Lime is used to balace out the PH of the soil. Its not important if you PH your water and the soil your using is well balanced. Since your mixing up your own soil, its not that important. Are you growing outdoors or indoors? If it is indoors, I believe that mushroom compost can really stink.

A quicker way would be to use a dehydrator. I've heard others using putting a fan on them while they hang but I don't think that's a good idea.

I've read a few times now that if your growing organic, that flushing wasn't neccessary. When you flush, your basically trying to wash out all the chemicals in the plant so it tastes better and your not smoking chemical fertilizers. Not sure with organics since it doesn't have all the chemicals.

Yeah, I don't think putting them in the dark will do much to slow it down. My understanding is that plants still grow in the dark, they just use there stored energy from the fan leaves at night to grow. Too much darkness and the fan leaves start dying off. Good luck anyway!

Water them when they're dry and the bucket feels light. Put enough water in till you see it just coming out the bottom. You might want to measure that so you know however, I find it changes week to week. The plants seem to drink more as the grow goes on.

Yes, water only the ones that are dry. Trying to water them all at the same time will cause you more problems if they don't need water. Its a lot more work however, you'll be happier at the finished product. That is also why larger grow operations really try to keep everything uniform.
