What wattage of LED light should I buy for my setup?

What footprint size you looking at? I'd go 240 watts for two medium plants. Two 120 watt panels would do you well...as far as quality, I grow with black dog lights and my stuff is amaaazing. I think they just added some lower wattage lights to their line, mightbe worth checking out for a...

MamaKush First Post-Prop 64 Journal ; Soil Under BlackDogLED

Coming up on flush time with my current crop of girls, and the process became a debate with a friend of mine... so I thought I'd ask you guys what you think... How much water do you use when flushing 3 gal soil pots? What type of water do you use (distilled, tap, RO, etc)? Do you add anything...

MamaKush First Post-Prop 64 Journal ; Soil Under BlackDogLED

I've been reading on these forums for some time, and now I feel like I have something worthy of sharing. Plus, this shit is now legal in CO so why not? A little background: I've had a prescription for MMJ to treat pain associated with an autoimmune disease for years, and after some...

    Morning glories inside

In my experience, morning glories are very hearty, and they can survive in all sorts of conditions. I've had them veg in 12/12 for sure, but I think they need at least 16 hrs of light to flower. You can guide the growth of the vines wherever you want them to go, or you can just trim them back If...

Starting with LED's - are ebay ones ok?

I have a few black dog panels. I use one older and one universal platinum in flower for a total of 1460 watts over a 4 x 7 area. They're not cheap, but I've been using them for a couple of years and I've definitely got my moneys worth and then some. The girls love them, that's for sure.

Best Nutrients? And organic growing pros/cons?

I did the math at one point, and found that House and Garden offers the best bang for your buck. The recommended volume amounts on the labels seem pretty accurate, and their stuff sure makes for happy plants.

    Led Users Unite!

Just my general 2 cents to people looking at cheap lights--you get what you pay for. Also, i recommend reading around the website... If the grammar is poor and very obviously written by someone for whom English is a second language, the light is probably coming directly from a Chinese...

    150W HPS, 4 bulb 2' T5 or 240 Blackstar LED

Kind of sounds like you've already made up your mind but I thought I'd give my 2 cents anyways... 240watts (the Blackstar you were talking about) of anything seems pretty weak for a 3x3 area... I'd say you want AT LEAST 350 true watts to get some serious footprint and penetration going on. That...

    Led 240w or 500w ????

Depends on the area you're trying to cover. Generally two units provide a better overlapping footprint than a single, more powerful unit.

    liquid cooled led`s ?

Ah, I didn't get that. Seems to me like having one enormous diode would seriously limit spectral capabilities. Plants use a lot more different wavelengths than just red and blue to grow and produce all those wonderful compounds.

    |FCG|Frank's 1st Grow: Royal Haze | Area51 LED, CO2, Bubbleponics

I like the layout of your first post, looks good. If you don't mind my asking, when you stated the light sources you're using, you put (-60) and (-90) after each. Why is that? I'm not familiar with the Area 51 lights. When you say 280 watts, do you mean 280 LED watts or actual watts?

    liquid cooled led`s ?

I have a few LED panels of varying wattage, going up to 750 watts, and none of them get very hot, even when multiple lights are closed up in smallish spaces. I feel like a fluid system would make for some heavy, bulky panels, too. One of the things I like about my lights is that they are self...

    Led Users Unite!

I've been growing with black dog lights for almost 2 years now, and I'm very happy with the results. Ditto on the power bill, it's surprising a unit as big as the platinum makes such a small blip.
