Well, I can keep my hand on the bottom of the glass forever with out getting hot...? so what does that mean?

This is a hot day. temps will be 72 average. (I will be adjusting to 76) If I am air-cooled, temps are 77 degrees at 5 inches from the bottom of 2 1000 watt HPS hood glass, will this hurt my buds. If temps are 80 and under do I have to worry about how close they are to the bottom of the glass?
