Anyone a fan of defoliation to increase yeild?

Yes, I know what a photosynthesis is, but living organisms often don't react in a way that's expected at the first glance. For example, you add more light, what would you expect? More light = more light = more growth. What you get? Just the oposite, plant with less light will push more into...

Anyone a fan of defoliation to increase yeild?

Ok, there is one question I can't seem to find an answer to. Lets say we have a branch that has 3 large leaves and a young little bud between them. Those leaves are keeping the light from penetrating to the bud. I want to know what exactly will hapen? a) those leaves will produce energy that...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I don't know. It could perhaps even cause problems if sugar wasn't used up and is poured into a res. And perhaps it still had enough microbes to do some good. Anyway, lights would keep it warm, but I have no idea how such strong light would affect the brew.

Yes, I had nothing at that temp. Try brewing at a warmer place or geting a small aquarium heater.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Usually, but not necesarely. If you have biofilm (snot like slimy thing floating around and sticking to your stones and other surfaces), you are OK. I had no foam when I was brewing under 20°C. I get most of it at about 25°C.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

As 10after said, wash (spray bottles are good for that), give a bit of H2O2 bath, give fresh res with only pure water and tea, then after a day add nutes and you should be fine. Since your roots are small and don't provide much housing for bennies, you could put some expanded clay in your brewer...

1291ppm/ 1.84 EC for vigorous 3 wk olds? Scared to up nutes. Cocohempy

When they were that young my plants couldn't handle more then EC of 0,7 mS. This sounds insanely high.

I feel its best to pour the tea directly over the root ball.

    Flowering Additives?

If you are using DWC, stay away from any aditives as they often cause slime problem.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Sorry, I'm too lazy to search for the updated recipe. Here is my formula for 2,5L of tea: I take small handfull (about 40 mL) of EWC (ancient forest seems to be the king, but I use locally made EWC available in my country), 6,5 g of unrefined brown sugar (Heisenberg uses molases but I cant...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I think Heisenberg said a cup per 10 gallon for prevention and a cup per gallon for curing actual problems. What products did you add to current res?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Woho, thats much tea. I'm addding half a cup for about 4 gallons. Are any of the new roots touching the water yet?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I filter my tea because I don't want ewc particles in my res, but it should be safe to put it in. Actually I think Heisenberg said that pieces biofilm could be benneficial in setups with young plants because microorganisms don't have much roots to provide housing.

Ugh, that does not look nice. How much did you add and did you do anything differently? More sugar? Lower temps? Water? I'd clean that and start in fresh res.

I'm on day 13 of flower in my first DWC SCROG grow. Stretch will soon be over so I'd appreciate a few tips. 1) My plants have always had lots of large fan leaves. Right now net is covered by a thick canopy and very little light is geting to the nodes. How should I deal with that? Right now I...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Myass, first thing they taught us at microbiology class was "every bacteria is pathogenic if present in sufficient numbers". It was a lesson about importance of mantaining good body hygiene in the lab to avoid infections, but I think it also applies here. Bacillus subtilis is a beneficial...

No problem :) Could you separate just one bucket and experiment on it?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

10after420, I can't tell you what exactly happened with your res, but one pattern I have found on this forum is that almost every time someone comes with a slime problem, he a) uses GH products (floranova is a no) and b) uses bunch of aditives. For one, superthrive has been reported to cause...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Yes, if they are dead, they should decompose and fall off soon enough. By now I'd expect them to be falling apart on gientle pull. When plant is in shock it's often difficult to say what is dead and what is not, so I would sugest a conservative aproach.
