First QB grow is finally done. Chopped her on Sunday and drying is going perfectly so far. HLG is the shit and I hope @Stephenj37826 and @robincnn keep putting out quality lights because I will be needing more in the future... couple pics from chop day.
Meeting a person face to face that you met on a website about growing to discuss your illegal grow sounds like bad mojo to me. I'd have to be talking to someone on here for years before I'd want to take a risk like that.
Yeah, that's why I specified that it is pointless in soil. I would add a little to my reservoir every 2nd or 3rd res change when I was running hydro and would skip cal mag when adding Si as they don't tend to play well together.
I do think it is noticeably beneficial in hydro though and...
I definitely agree with your last paragraph and agree wholeheartedly. People often assume nature = optimal and very often, for our purposes, that is simply not true.
There are benefits to Si in plant biology. Strengthening of cell walls, greater drought resistance, greater tolerance to heavy metal exposure (see the paper
'Importance of Silicon and Mechanisms of Biosilica Formation in Plants' by Mahbob Sahebi et al).
The main reason it's typically not needed...
My first grow under my QB is nearing its end and I am so happy. The Orkle is a truly amazing strain. The third picture is a lower i snipped as a tester bud after 4 or 5 days of drying. Thank you once again @Stephenj37826 and @robincnn for an outstanding light.
