If time is not a factor, scrog is the undisputed champ. The only thing that beats a well executed scrog is SOG. But I don't consider sog a 'training method', just a shitload of plants with a quick turn around time.

For freshly rooted clones I only water in the center where the roots are until they acclimate and have a chance to develop some root mass. Over watering young clones is a quick way to kill em.
