My setup is small but all Kessil. 2x 2.5 two plants max. I have: 1 H350 Deep Purple 1 H350 Magenta 1 H150W Red 1 H150B Blue Id suggest another H350, I find two is the magic number to bloom a plant or two. The H150's are great to use as side lights or supplimental to the real muscle.

I use a Kessil Red H150W. It does what is supposed to, ripen up buds. I use it on my pepper plants too, and they ripen and change from green to red in half the time. Red are pricey at 150+ but a worthy in estment if you have other spectrums.

Cfl's should be within 2-3" over plants. You should start out with only 1-2 as seedlings dont require much light. Double light when you have double growth, in a couple weeks. As for keeping plants manageable....Be sure to keep more blue light very close if you are vegging with cfl's. Plants naturally grow short, and bushy if they dont have to stretch toward the light. I use a pure blue led light now throughout vegging (no more than a month) to keep internodal spacing...

Why dont you try some ocean forest soil? Or happy frog if you want it even milder.

I love everything about ocean forest, except the $20 a bag to procure the stuff.

I use 2 of the Kessil H350 and 2 Kessil H150 on a 2x2.5 grow area. I am very pleased with the quality of the plants these lights produce. I believe my setup to be equivalent to a 600 watt HID

I mix the ffof with about 40 percent perlite. Then I drop seeds, and slightly water in. Thats it, they seem to sprout great in this mix everytime. I make sure to not to add nutrients for at least 30 days, it's rich soil.

I'll post some pics soon. I dont think the tuna blue is tuned in for plants, only coral. The h150b is perfect for clones, and vegging. Equivalent to metal halide.

I have used big cfl's too, 105 actual watters. CFL light is soft and doesnt penetrate well, so the trick is to use lots of it! Higher actual wattage bulbs are nice, but they are big, some put out excess heat, and have to be kept as close as lower wattage CFL's. You seem to be on the right track...
