Yes! Take the V (143) divide by 4..35.75. If you look at Cree website you can see that at lower current you can run lower forward voltage. That driver will work fine. One catch... Doesn't run at 110ac. If your in the USA don't think you can use it

    CXB2530 burning up Driver?

Thanks for the info... I had to go out and buy a heat sink because the Mars knock off was of such great quality.... It didn't have one!! I think I know what to do in the mean time, order some spare cobs, run in parallel , buy a second heat sink, run 4 cobs across two drivers @ 650ma whilst I...

    CXB2530 burning up Driver?

Quick question, I have been hacking Mars hydro for parts and one of the knock offs I have has a driver pumping out 35v @ 1300mA. Check the lights when I got home tonight and one of the cobs is cracked and not working, the other one is covered in tiny cracks but still working for now. If you...

Accidentally squished COB and Driver Question

Quick question, in my diy build today I accidentally squished a cob, wasn't paying attention and I felt it give a little under my fingers when I was cleaning off some thermal paste. Can see a slight impression on the cob. Odds on it will burn out add short the series? Also I'm hacking up Mars...

    another COB question (bit technical)

DrGhard, Just get the total volts it can generate (95v-190v) and divide that by 5... which is 38v. the C1050 means the mA is constant. So Yes you can run 5x as long as your COBs "consume" more than 95v and less than 190v. They will be in series. The way to think of it is this.. Dividing...

Or you can run multiple cxb2530, cxb3070, Vero 18 or 29's of each driver in series at 720ma which would crush the pissy 3w led panels. Each Mars driver can handle 2-3 cobs based on your driver numbers. Depending on which cob you use. The 2530 or Vero 18 would work best value wise as you can get...

For veg only? Yeah they will do it. They are basically what I'm converting into cobs style reflectors at the moment. You could also look into CFL bulbs if you really want but for simple veg from cuttings or seeds then you can definitely. I've got proof in my tent they work.

And that Woz is the $100 question.. I don't fully understand that part yet. What you can tell from the Spec sheet.. Max A is 4.2 x 40.4 Vf = 169.7W (4.2*40.4) so that is max light but at that rate your getting an l/m of 110/W... If you look down the scale @ 2.1A you get 2.1*38= 79.8W and l/m of...

OK thanks, and this is where my issues are in regards to learning... I can source some CXB2530's in 3500K.. was thinking of running these instead. Cutter.. cause they are local. As a side question, can someone explain the relationship between Volts and Watts. I know that if I have 36V @ 100%...

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

Guys... Can a Vero 18 be run @ 36v? (1300ma). I've looked at the spec sheet and I'd be pushing it. The specs on the flea bay drivers are 20-36v @ 1300mA with 88% efficiency. Want to pull the trigger on a cob purchase today. Thx for help (yes I can bump it to the Vero 29 with this but working...

Ok so after much reading and trying to learn years worth of info in a few days this is what I'm thinking: 1) 3x Vero 18's @4000K 2) Driven off (alibaba specia) OTM 100-1050ma. http://m.alibaba.com/product/60356693249/waterproof-constant-current-100w-700ma-1050mA.html I'm also planning on...

Another question here because you are all so full of knowledge. What happens if you want to run something @ 30V and had planned on say 3 cobs but you can only get something in 100V.. do they get over driven at 33.3333V each? How can you tell when too much is too much and your creating a fire...

I'm sure you can work out that I'm in Australia so cutter will probably be faster/ easier. Anyway, back to my original question will 3-4 Vero 18's cover 1x2.5 (half the tent)? If someone can tell me the math (lumens or watts per square foot) I can work it out. Thx so far
