no, it has to do with how easy it is for the plant to get the light it wants, more light and making the light close(2-5" away) makes it so the plant doesnt have to stretch as much... and the strain has a lil to do with it. put a couple cfls surrounding the plant from seedling.

you want to use daylight temps like 5-7000k for veg and warm/soft white for flowering (temps like 2-4000k). you can use the warm colors for veg, they just arent as effective, but you wont have to buy both types... id buy atleast 2 42watt cfl's to be used through the whole grow

Yea you can use that one but like bigbud said that will be a warmer temp which is ideal for flowering, the daylight bright (5-7000k) will be better for vegging. but if your using cfls the whole way through you can get a couple of each and only switch out the day light brights with soft/warm...

Thanks for tuning in vannette, ya lookin back the glad ware boxes make a alot of work filling each individual one. If i were you i would have a large resevior or two for all your plants, maybe try gettin one of those metal laced organizer shelving things to hold your plants above your reseviors...
