    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

The irony is that small producers, or wannabes, are losing out at the benefit of large corporate interests. You claim to be against people "controlling" the plant, yet us failing only means it is controlled by even fewer people, if you consider corporations people in the first place. You would...

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

There are Good Agricultural Practices developed specifically for medicinal plants. I think this is a better starting point. The regulations in place for other medicinal plants are pretty similar, so if you familiarize yourself with them you are in pretty good shape. In fact, much of the MMPR...

Good Job Leaffan, hope you make it through! What I find odd about the SOPs is that you cannot write them until you have completed construction and finalized all of your equipment. It seems very odd to submit hundreds of pages of SOPs at this stage, and to me would actually display a lack of...

I've heard these numbers (and other contradicting numbers) thrown around, but again I've never seen them in writing from HC. The only thing I have ever read from HC on this topic is that they are not placing a limit on the number of LPs. This is what they said from very early on.

You are correct, but the term is often used more loosely (incorrect or not). If they regulate milk, chicken, and tobacco production, why would you ever think they wouldn't limit marijuana production? It is naive to believe they intended to have a "free market" in the literal sense.

Free market simply means that the prices will not be regulated and will be at the discretion of the LPs. This does not mean that it will be unregulated or unlimited. Most of Canadian agriculture is regulated, yet considered "free market". You can not just start farming chickens, you need to...

We formally withdrew our application (they were very supportive of it at that point), so I could not re-submit under the same number. However, I included a cover letter explaining that we had previously submitted an application (and provided the reference number) at the same location. I am...

I just re-submitted our application after sorting out municipal issues. We will see how things have changed since August...

"A spokeswoman for Health Canada did not respond directly to questions about the department's ability to handle the massive influx of licence applications." This article is mostly people's opinions (once again). Nothing to suggest how many they were expecting, or anything else of use other...

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

You could be right, but to me you are a dude on the internet that heard it from a guy that heard it from a guy (no offense). I find it impossible to believe HC would not have seen this coming. That's not to say they were equipped to deal with it.

I love how much "inside" information floats around about the whole MMPR system. You guys really think HC only expected 75 applications? Are they idiots? I think they knew that they would receive hundreds of applications when they started this; they are not that naive. Someone suggested...

Not really creating it from scratch. Most of the QA requirements are identical to any NHP, so the general steps involved are well worked out already. The biggest difference between this industry and any other NHP is security, which dosn't have too much impact on the QA side of things. I...

The problem is that if you get your license after the April 1st deadline, people growing under the old system are no longer a legal source.

I dont know about that, no system is fool proof and plant pathogens/bugs happen. We are not talking about molds that grow due to poor conditions, but pathogenic fungi that actively attack the plant. Even organic farmers use pesticides, they just restrict the source of them. This will...

What if they are planning to use 400W lights (or even 250W)? Not saying this is the best approach but why assume everyone will select 1000W lights? We had discussed different options, they all have pros and cons.

Some are, but the "real" strain names are a little dubious in their own right. Most are so variable they should hardly be called a strain in the first place, and when you get them from different sources they are often not even remotely the same. Still value in it though, so if we ever make it...

I didn't say they didnt need to be qualified, just that there is no specific certification needed. My QAR was much shorter and they seemed happy with it. Size isn't everything!

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

I think this has been discussed several times throughout this thread. Obviously this is a concern, but I think most people seriously moving forward are well aware of these issues and everyone has the same restraints. You could even argue that these issues are more problematic for the larger...

I dont see why it would pose any problems with QA, can you elaborate? We plan to grow hydroponically. We had to withdraw our application due to zoning issues so we never actually received our letter to build, but I think we were close. We got the request for a phone call after two months or so.
