but, the trim and popcorn will dry faster off the main stalk... personally, i do my main manicure first and then let it dry and then give it another trim before it hits the jars. i have read some sound arguments for letting the whole plant hang... but i dont like dealing with the dry leaves in...

aaaactually.... you DO have to dry it first... in fact, the canabinols are pretty damn near worthless until you let the buds dry... and they literally do get betting during a long cure (this is why i had an issue over the dehydrator)... i forget the actual term for it so you could search... when...

get a pH test kit... the drop kind can be had for about $10. neither soil nor CFLs have anything to do with the pH level of your water.

in hydro it isnt even a concern from what i gather... take a look at Earl's hydro grow and you will see his roots extend for a couple of FEET past the grow area and into his res... like pig tails :o

looking good DB! many people advocate only growing one strain at a time... my thought on this is because it keeps it simple on the grower.... obviously you do not follow this school... and seeing as how i am growing for myself and not as a business i like the idea of many different kinds of...

it does make sense.... and is valid... i guess i wasnt clear enough about the checking for root bind ;) obviously, even if things are root bound if the plants are in the last week of their grow it just doesnt matter much either... in fact, it could be attributed to a very efficient grow style...

because different grow styles and strains have different requirements... if the roots are getting root bound larger pots are required for soil grows.

er, yeah, that makes all the difference... in soil, my advice stands... in hydro it is not an issue at all.

tip de jour.. plan on spending more money than you originally budgeted. this aint a cheap hobby and things have a way of not going as far as you planned... specially when your first (or third) plan doesnt work out and you have to redo it. even the best plan can go to shit in a hurry ;)

not a big hit to the power bill at all. relax and enjoy the upgrade :)

i would think it would be ok... similar to adding perlite or rocks to the soil. expensive, so i wouldnt do it though. save the hydroton till you get the rest of your hydro toys lined up and just use the soil.
