2 month veg is too long for me. I'd like to go straight from my seedling pots into my SIPs

i was thinking of transplanting into final pot about 2 weeks from sprout, so...

well, maybe a little top dress at some point after veg to push it to 10 weeks of flower then? I purchased soil from Black Swallow Living Soil in Brantford, Ontario https://blackswallowsoil.com/product/kis-mix-blended-soil-651 and figure with large enough pots I should be able to go the distance...

How large of a pot might be adequate to go water only until harvest? Might 20 gallons of properly ammended soil be enough to go 1 month veg and 2ish months flower? Maybe only 1 topdress before flower? Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, both plants perished. I had covid through May and it was me or the plants, I guess. I've not pinpointed my issues as of yet, but it's probably my tap water. I tried bottled spring water, distilled and am about to try RO. I've switched to SIPs so they're all adequately watered...

the room looks great as well. Is it a converted cold cellar?

my tap ppm is over 400 also and I've used it frequently. This is what I've been battling. Possibly magnesium locked out by calcium rich tap water. I keep meaning to switch to RO as a solution as well...

wouldn't landscape fabric be a better alternative to paper towels?

If people are concerned with soil in the reservoir water, what are people using to wick? I've used a 5 inch net pot and it's filled with the same soil that's above it... should I be concerned?

Maybe try a Maxi sensor? 9" long, sensing moisture at 6ish inches deep... I'm rather new to Blumats, but I use Maxi's in my 10 gal fabric pots... If you're using standard sensors, maybe cut the first dripper back to 8 cm?

How's your bucket? I'm giving Blumats a try as well. I use a black, 8 gallon pail with a lid. No algae. ;) Blumat bulkhead fitting is about $4 CAD
