If I was you I wouldent trim ANY fan leaves unless you have no choice. The fan leaves are the "power Plants" of ur herb, they draw in the light energy and oxygen. In my experence I would only trim the bottom 1-3 branches, the ones hat don't get much light, so your plant dosent waste it's energy...

Shouldent affect it in any negative way unless you go under 12 hours light, but obviously more light the bigger and faster it will grow

you can get one at wal-mart, radioshack, just to name a few places. but radioshack has some for like 5 or 6 bucks. and you can find them online as well.

i start mine with the wet paper towel method for a few days and when the tap root comes out i transplant into small pot, burying the tap root and barely keep the top part above soil
