It's not that cheap. It's the same price at my hydro shop as FFOF soil $14/bag. It works well in my growing system. I veg in soil (2 to 3 qts) then transplant to either coco, or perlite hempy buckets. The basement mix seems to be a better feeding medium than FFoF soil, in my side by side tests...

I use Botanicare Cal/Mag and I add it to my feed water. Epsom salts has no Cal its just a magnesium salt.

coco has an affinity to ca and will pull it out of solution. I had a nute uptake problem in my mini coco hempy's, I upped the cal/mag to 5ml/gal and they jump started into aggressive growing again.

If you get a ph lockout from cal or mag (especially mag) it can cause a lockout of P & K and even N a little bit. So the plant will not uptake any of the nute salts and this will cause the buildup. But if your ph has been correct then there must be another reason your plant is not eating...

I took plain water to mean straight tap water.
