Considering a DIY LED build For flowering only: Design considerations...

Thanks for the long explanation. Everything understood. I indeed did misunderstand your initial post. I think we are more on the same page than not. Even distribution of LEDs across area is exactly what we agree upon! The idea of angled bars is new. Hadn't heard that one before.

Doh! was writing my post when you posted this, I'll chew on this info and read your thread: https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/590648-diy-led-220w-cree-xte.html

Considering a DIY LED build For flowering only: Design considerations...

    A little thinking out loud: Quick relative cost comparisons for a couple hypothetical layouts using cree xm-l: Example 1: 34 LEDs driven @ 2100ma, 3.2v ea=6.72w ea, 228.48 total watts approx $6/LED x 34= $204 2-invertronics drivers each rated to 120 watts can handle 14 chips $98 ea x 2= $196...

Considering a DIY LED build For flowering only: Design considerations...

Pepperdust, appreciated. I do not follow your description of light spread. maybe i am misunderstanding your point. Seems making a single huge panel with drivers distributed evenly over the entire area would be better distribution. 4 smaller panels that potentially each create more concentrated...

Re: previous discussion on SDS' thread my post #64: https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/658111-what-kind-light-mj-likes-7.html Edited pertinent posts/replies: OK, so I am after a single purpose FLOWERING light. The last graph of warm white 2900K looks like it does need more red...

What kind of light mj 'likes ' ? Decoded from it's reflectance ....

OK, thanks. From what i understand, WW 2700K would be a more appropriate base for flower rather than all purpose veg and flower. I started my own thread, https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/659405-considering-diy-led-build-flowering.html#post9125743 won't continue to sidetrack SDS'...

Considering a DIY LED build For flowering only: Design considerations...

I have spent the last week reading literally thousands of posts here and on another forum about DIY Led building and design. I feel pretty good about the background info, have a pretty good basic understanding plant spectrum needs, and understand basic driver loading/ LED/driver matching. I also...

I guess too ,should i start my own thread? I don't want to hijack SDS' thread here

What kind of light mj 'likes ' ? Decoded from it's reflectance ....

Thanks eraserhead! First question that pops into mind is; for flower then, why start at 4000-4500K rather than starting at warm white 2700 which is closer to your intended target of 3000K? I am familiar with the current and voltage loading for strings of drivers, but more application/review...

What kind of light mj 'likes ' ? Decoded from it's reflectance ....

Thanks SO MUCH for this thread. This single (combined) post is the most comprehensive and succinct summary I have seen regarding spectra! I have spent the last week reading DIY LED build threads and trying to extract pertinent spectrum info into a succinct format to base my own build upon...

    Worm problem, Mites

I do feed one area, check and see how they react. There isn't much "soil" per se, just paper/cardboard bedding and food. What do you think of adding bagged organic compost for some "soil"? How to dry if too wet then? I thought adding dry paper/cardboard would do.

    Worm problem, Mites

Well, things got bad enough that i am going through the bin, removing the healthy live worms and cocoons and am starting over. There are areas that are indeed too wet, the areas of food which do have a higher concentration of mites as well. The worms are hanging out in the dryer corrugated...

    Cdl info

So if you owned a commercial weight truck that you actually need, that requires a cdl to drive you'd rather not be licensed to drive it? I own the truck. Not going to get rid of it to avoid having a cdl. I need this truck for maintaining our road and plowing in the winter. Used to have just a...

    Cdl info

I have CO cdl and need to get the med exam cert again. I guess syn piss is in order, my appt is in a week and last toked a few days ago. So question is, I don't work for anyone, just have my truck and use it for my own property maintenance. I haul material, but not for any employer, and I am...
