Ability to raise and lower light via smartphone?

You could get a Raspberry pi and control via bluetooth; connect to Rpi with wifi. Using the Rpi will let you control everything from lights to watering etc. I recommend using Mycodo. The developer is awesome and i'm sure he would through together a library for the hoist. That my limited 2 cents.

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

How is microwaved water helpful? Never heard that one

Plants in different stages keep developing fully red stems, leaves turn yellow and droop. Water experts get in here!

If we are talking strictly organic... Your soil soil have the buffering capability for years to come. If you start to see if effects that means your soil is lacking organic matter. Add more organic matter and your good to go. For funsies, take some high/low ph water and throw in some EWC. It...

    Layer and spikes.

I used to grow in 35 gallon soil beds. Now I have a single 150 gallon soil bed that fits tight in a 4x4 tent. I absolutely love worms in my pots. My favorite hobby is sneaking into the tent before lights on and watching the nightcrawlers when the lights hit, straight back into the burrows they...

    Layer and spikes.

Nice worm you got there! I'm not much of a fan of spikes and layers but I don't use such small pots. Did you find it is required to make it through flowering?

    Living soil

Just use Coots mix. It can be found in the Rols thread (Stickied) at the bottom of the page posted by Cann. It is very similar to Loco41's mix. The compost, aeration, and amendment components are the most important part. For example, I follow coots mix to the dot. But I use calcined clay as my...

    Let’s see your grown

Did you build or have to buy the system? The initial investment in Hydro is insane. I say that but I spend a fortune on my soils lol. What can I say, i'm a soil nerd. Your system is very professional, looking at that setup I can see why you stuck with it. The plants look great. Do you have to...

    BioChar

I've never had the ability to try homemade. I would imagine it is even better than lump charcoal with the ash that is blended with it. I made 2 big beds outdoors at my families house this last year and added maybe 1% biochar to 1 bed. It definitely out produced the other even when using fresh...

My favorite soil mix is 33% Peat, 33% horse manure worm compost, 33% turface mvp aeration(calcined clay rocks). To that I add 5% by volume biochar soaked in alfalfa and kelp. You should add other amendments as well, but this bad boy mixture has never let me down. All props go to clackamas coot...

I say make the EWC right in the pot. I've been experimenting with composting directly in the pot like a small plot of land. My compost piles are small of course but the worm activity is amazing. I have yet to plant in one of my compost piles but I will keep everyone updated!

    Fermented vs Aerobic teas

I always say in nature plants don't get anything aerated besides the soil. I feed my plants exclusively fermented teas, which is basically just comfrey in water. I strain the solids and plop it on my soil. The worms love it. You can also ferment rosemary, etc as a spray for bugs.

    The Dons' Organic Garden

I don't see any reason using it immediately. If your soil is healthy you shouldn't have problems! To be on the safe side you can put it through a worm bin, adds more microbes too.
