    Grow Cabinet.. Looking for Ideas!

only downside to DIY when it comes to lights is in the event of a fire, your homemade light doesn't have a UL tag. homeowners insurance will get flaky if they can blame the fire on your rig.

    Propane Electric Generator Question

I will assume you are in europe & something was lost in translation. a fouled plug is an american term for a spark plug that is dirty. an engine produces power when the sparkplug fires a spark into the combustion chamber that ignites the fuel. a fouled plug will produce a weak spark that...

CO2 is the only byproduct if the engine is running 100% effecient. are you willing to bet your life that the engine will never foul a plug or have any other problem? as for the plants producing enough O for the engine, how many plants & how big? why not ask how long a piece of string is? next...

Time to upgrade... 600w VS 1000w hps

besides the 1000 watts the bulb draws, the ballast also will draw 100-150 watts for a magnetic ballast or 40-50 watts for a digital. a 600 watt bulb puts out 90k lumens** and a 1000 watt bulb puts out 140k lumens so you could replace 2 1k lights(280k) w/ 3 600 watt lights (270k). almost the same...

    5x2' closet / 400 watt hps / a 1x1 opening in ceiling... Will I have heat problems?

doubt it will work but try it! run for a day or 2 w/ no plants & see what the temps do. what you didn't post was how you plan to get the air into the closet. a good sized hole at the bottom may allow enough airflow to maintain temps.

Monster room setup! need help :P

do you have the power at your house to handle this? you are looking at 80 amps of 220 for the lights alone. you will need an electrician to wire all safely. I would also guess this size grow would take several hours a day to maintain. last thought. stay under 99 plants as the penalties jump...

Grow room fan question for temperature control and dark cycle use

never thought about a filter,I vented into another room that had a ozone gen. it could work but you could be setting up for a couple dangerous situations. like you said, if 1 gets unpluged,it will be male & hot.another is if you used 2 prong w/out a ground, either could get flipped and cause a...

DIY HPS Light Reflector Hood.. Expertise Needed!

if you plan to RTV your glass in place, make sure you have a way to get to the inside to clean it. 1 more important thought. DIY is great & I prefer it over spending $$ but when it comes to electric, your homemade rig won't have a UL tag. homeowners insurance wont pay out if the fire started due...

    Appartment growing, electrical questions, thx.

technically, you could do as native says. however, the first time you draw 20-25 amps for more than a few minutes, you will start a fire.

    Electrical Assistance Needed!

yes, I veg w/ a 400 mh and add a 400 HPS to flower. again the heat may hurt but they make 70 watt MH lights, I would veg w/ that and add a 150hps to flower. btw. to air cool that small a light(150 watt) I have used a PC fan. no bends in the duct & no carbon filter. just straight duct in 1 side &...

Electrical help please, need to make a timer board

IF you only want to run 2 1K lights and IF your dryer outlets has 4 prongs, it could be done. you will need a dryer plug like this. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202647848/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 follow the instructions more or less except I...

Quick Question About Air Cooled Reflectors

either way will work. fans are more efficient at pulling than pushing air. the heat would only be a concern if temps are over 2-300 degrees and if they are that high, you need a bigger fan. the only advantage of pushing the air through is that if you are ducting fresh air into the light & out...

    Simple Ideas For Power Outage

how big of a light? you could use a computer UPS but a 1000 watts will get pricey. for a 400 watt light, you should be able to find 1 for about $100 (US) but 1000 watts will run closer to a grand

Quick Question About Air Cooled Reflectors

like smiley said, you are trying to get rid of the hot air. any fan big enough to do so will be fine. I have used 2 PC fans on a 400 watt HPS but I was sucking very cold air in & had no bends in the duct to restrict airflow. 2 holes in duct are for air in and out,if you can pull air from outside...

OK this has been debated a million times I know..but what is the main word now?

Dont know about the plants but if you are using HPS or MH, you dont want to go 24/0 as the ballast makers all agree that the ballast needs at least an hr or 2 a day off time to cool.failure to do so will shorten the life of the ballast & bulb. not sure if this holds true for eltronic/digital...
