I never pre-soak, the seeds just get put on a few layers of paper towel, in the dark and I make sure it's wet but not sat in a pool of water. I have a 100% germination rate within 36hrs for good quality seeds. I've bought some cheapos previously that took another day or so to pop. Keep it simple.

Just to add, I know thw water level is too low in that last pics, I've topped it up an re-balance the nutes/EC/PH, the water isnt the problem it's the insane amount of growth I'm struggling with :mrgreen:

one ting I have noticed is they tend to 'stand tall' and 'droop', depending on where they are in the 24hr light/dark cycle. Are they on 18/6? All other things being equal, have you observed them just before 'lights on' and also just before 'lights off'?

Yup... I wasn't prepared for how fast and vigarous they grow in DWC, comming from soil and these got off to a rocky start, as I'm a noob at hydro/DWC, but once I got things dialled in a bit better they just go crazy.

Thanks, I toped them and LST'd them a bit with a net, a while back but they've out grown that.... I might give that a go, but i thought it's a bit risky in flower period? I could put a second net in and use that to support?

What light are you using and how close to the plants is it? Also what is your humidity?

^this. My kettle is 2200w... it would melt a cheap timer, not that i'd ever put my kettle on a timer.

Anecdotally, before I went LED, I had an HPS balast with two mains plugs, one labled 'timer' which basically functioned as a low power on/off switch, and a second one labled 'power', which drew the power... this enabled you to use a cheaper timer and not having to pull 400w+ through a cheap...

cheaper timers might only be rated for 300w or even less, and are only designed for small things things like christmas tree lights and table lamps etc. so if you are pulling 600w through one, you're going to have a major problem. The easiest solution is to buy a timer from a grow shop rather...

Day 68 I switched the lights to 12/12 about 5 days ago, but I thought I'd let them drink up the veg ferts and run the resevoir low. now refilled the rez with bloom ferts (failrly mild at EC 0.9 and PH of about 6.5) back up to about 90 litres, it was probably down to about 40 litres, LED light...
