Uv led for diy, replacing flourecent t5 supplemental lighting

I'm sorry to respond like that. It's just that some people quote Bugbee like he's god when we've never seen any evidence of him growing high-THC strains. In the Migro video he says "Multiple tests at different doses" but it doen't appear they've been published or peer reviewed, so we don't know...

Uv led for diy, replacing flourecent t5 supplemental lighting

^ Bogus. The reason Bugbee hasn't been able to prove it is because he's never tested UVA on high-THC plants. They don't grow high-THC plants in Utah – it's illegal – so all their testing is on hemp and high CBD. Their methodologies are also suspect. I've already explained this numerous times...

    Lumitek ballast

Ah, user error. But still, most drivers have over-voltage and short-circuit protection so I'd still try to claim it under warranty. Lumatek isn't going to know. But if it's your fifth light then I guess that would be hard to explain! I doubt youl'll be able to repair it because the potting...

    Lumitek ballast

Drivers are potted in epoxy to additionally protect (waterproof) them and to secure the coils in place so they can't be shaken loose. Don't those Lumatek's come with a five-year warranty? They haven't been aroud that long – just return it.

Uv led for diy, replacing flourecent t5 supplemental lighting

I'd be looking at the Nichia NVSU119 series. They are much cheaper and much more efficient than the glass package 233. https://led-ld.nichia.co.jp/en/product/led_search.html?ledsearch=true&prodstatus%5B%5D=s02&prodstatus%5B%5D=s03&type=NVSU119C The only issue is they only go down to 375nm (+...

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

We run our single panels at up to 240W without themal paste, but our panels are 50% bigger and so are our heatsinks. If you are doing it, then it can obviously be done. But I'm guessing you probably have a fair bit of air blowing on them, and that can make all the difference.

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

The C3500 doesn't have enough voltage output to driver three QBs at those currents, that's why it's not on the list. Pesonally, I wouldn't drive three QBs at 480W on a Slate 2 Triple heatsink without active (fan) cooling for the following reason: If you go to HLG's website, they say their...

    Paradise Seeds

Caramba seedlings doing their thing after coming up to 1.5 weeks after sprouting. Seven in total in the middle of a few clones. Starting to get crowded in there, but I'll trim a few clones that I'm keeping for future grows and the Caramba will be going to new homes probably at the end of next week.

El Dorado OG now at two weeks of 12/12. There are five plants in there now, but one of them will be going outside as they continue to stretch and fill the tent. The fifth plant (right in front) is an auto, so is getting a head-start under the lights.

    Red light best for budding?

I'm also not going to cast aspersions, but I will say this: Bugbee never promoted the benefits of Far Red light . . . until his company, Apogee, started making an "ePAR" meter that measured Far Red up to 750nm. For the longest time, he either ignored the evidence or said it was inconclusive...

    Red light best for budding?

Yes they do. Bugbee doesn't grow cannabis, he grows hemp. Utah University is not allowed to grow high-THC cannabis, so they grow hemp and CBD-rich strains instead. Any industrial hemp farmer can tell you that the higher the UV index outdoors, the higher the THC concentration. Outdoor help...

    Spider farmer sf2000 glue melting

Blowing fans on heatsinks is always a good idea to cool the fixture and increase efficiency and LED life, but unfortunately for some people have to consider noise, so the more fans the more decibels. Ideally, a passively-cooled LED fixture should be able to run without a cooling fan and still...

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

That will work, but you will need decent heat-sinking as 3x QB648 panels will run hot at ~160W each. Here's another way of solving the same problem: 320W driver divided by 2 panels = 160W x 3 panels = 480W for the same current In theory, the 480W driver will deliver exactly the same amount of...

Changed my driver to double the power but light doesn’t seem any brighter?

This is true. Except in practice, there is not a huge difference in efficiency between top-tier lights so heatsink demands don't change that much. The main reason HLG gets away with it is surface area of the mounting plate. They use quite a large aluminium plate to mount the LED panels to. The...

A little led advice for a slow guy

Yes, it does sound crazy. That's because blue and green light penetrate water much further than red, yellow and amber light. So you have everything back-to-front. Your 2700K light will be absorbed way before 5000K. Just look at the difference in spectral output as you increase CCT (Kelvin...

How the heck led driver hps ?

OK, zoom in on the ballast and it looks like it is a 250V DC output version. Zoom right in under the output plug.

How the heck led driver hps ?

What Rocket said. Although the standard 600W bulbs were run on 230-240V so I'm guessing they've just created a 240V DC circuit to run the LEDs on. Still very high voltage output. I'm not sure what the efficiency would be like.

Ai! Caramba! Otherwise known as Wappa x Gelato #33. Seven seedlings that will also be going to new homes in a couple of weeks for a pheno hunt. I'll follow this grow as well as the El Dorado OG to see if we we can find some nice new genetics to add to the collection.
