    ...All Things Vero...

Is okay to use only 2 of the 4 mounting holes on a Vero 29? All 4 will be hard to line up with the fins of the heatsink.

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

Ok so I've been thinking about this. 4x CXB3070s on a HLG-185h-C1400B (1.4A) mounted to the HeatsinkUSA 5.886 profile at 24" length and 2x 120mm fans at 5v. Without doing any fancy thermodynamic calculations, I think it should have plenty of dissipation, almost overkill. Am I wrong in that...

Filter taking up too much tent space?! Make an external filter box! [Baisc How-to]

Since adding a second light to my tent, I haven't had enough room to move both lights to the top of the tent because of the carbon filter. I decided to make a cheap external filter box to gain some precious height! Before - Carbon filter is taking up too much space! Can't raise the rear light...

    Best LED for $400-$600?

Haha I'd actually be down to build some for other people, probably wouldn't be all THAT great price wise and turnaround would be a while but I feel like with each light, I learn a little more...I just don't need more light myself!

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

It's a variable resistance resistor that is effectively a dimmer for this application...but they can be used for lots of other stuff. Yes the C1400B's will have the AC input, DC output, and two dimming wires.

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

B on the end means an external pot (like I described above). The A version of the drivers has the internal pot.

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

If you want to use 1 dimmer for both lights, get a 50k potentiometer, if you want to dim them seperately, get a 100k pot for each driver. Wire them up like this (Supra posted this for me when I asked the same question)

    ...All Things Vero...

I went with the C1400B version of that driver for my first light (4 cxb3070s). They are awesome and you will love it. This time around, I am just going for a small 100w light that I can use to veg in a spare closet when needed. Since this probably won't be a full time light, I just wanted to...

What size heatsink and what drivers are you going to use? I went with some cheapo ebay 50w 1500mA individual drivers.

    calmag dosage

My says 2ml to 5ml so if you want to go light, I'd say 2ml per gallon would be good. I hear it's hard to burn the plants with too much calmag but I have no exp with higher doses.

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

Would there be any problems mixing 2x 3000k and 2x 5000k CXB3070s on one HLG-185H-1400B? Better to keep them the same temperature. I couldn't find anything the pointed me one way or the other on the datasheet.

With those drivers you could power 8 CXB3070s... just making sure you know that. ~400w at full power :)

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

No probably not worth it. You can lap it yourself with sandpaper if you really want but it's unnecessary in my opinion. I never did it on my CPU coolers back in the day and overclocked like crazy (dry ice even!)

Yes, just use longer strips of tape and use the whole base.
