And what type of light are you growing under? Are your buckets specifically for hydroponics? They're usually a thick black plastic. White buckets and white lids often have a lot of light penetration, which can lead to all sorts of problems.

Is that a bubble bucket system? Can you lift out the basket and take a picture of the roots?

What medium are they growing in, and what was the watering schedule? Looks like possible over watering. When did you flush them, in relation to the pictures?
