12-1 lighting schedule, has anyone actually tried this?

I don't understand why it is so difficult for people to share information and not get dumped on. All through this thread are comments about risking your crop or being a guinea pig. The use of the word flower or flowering is inappropriate for any replies to this thread. I'm not the forum cop but the op has absolutely nothing to do with flowering anything. I read some very interesting stuff on one of Hobbes threads about flowering photoperiods. I will try and find them and put them up on a thread that would be appropriate to flowering photoperiod. Not here. BTW I use this light scheme when I want plants to catch up on size and go to 24-0 and harsh root pruning when I need them to hold on for a while. It does work. I have no proof other than my
own observations. Someone actually mentioned hermieing? WTF?5-30-11 010.jpg

kudo to trying this out man, just a warning to everyone who may be a complete retard such as myself. I don't recommend flipping your mothers on this schedule, rather stressful for them, don't know how they take it from the jump but they don't like being changed to it. Keep it for your veg.

this whole thread is pointless.
Your lame comments are the only thing that are pointless in this thread. Give a reason for it being pointless or stay out of my thread. Some people are actually interested in saving energy and money, and your negative comments only show that you are a hater. Pointless is to start a grow and have to shut it down, sound familiar?

Day 28 since flipping to 11-13, and 14 days from 10 1/2-13 1/2. I will now be going to 10-14 for the next 2 weeks. My apologies for pics, I rotated them before I downloaded them but they flipped back for some reason.
**11-13 cycles have had good results on my asia sat doms :) ..cool thread, glad someone is doing something different.. imagination FTW ;)

I have already asked twice in this thread what the point of it all is... having gotten no answer i can only conclude that it is pointless.

can you answer... what is the point in 12/1?

Im pretty sure i mentioned its benefits earlier in this thread....but from what i heard the benefits are as follows....
1) less electricty use equals smaller electric bills
2) If LEO happens to be looking at elec use they see a very staggard schedule which brings less suspicion.
3) more rest means healthier plants

1 and 2 are obviously true...we just dont know if # 3 is true yet. My plants looked great under 12-1 in veg...cant say they looked better then if i ran 18 hrs on but they did look good.

Maybe if you would read the thread you would know the point of this is to save electricity and can also be very effective for lowering heat. Most people are running their lights 18-24 hrs a day during veg, and you only need to run this 13 hrs a day. You are saving 5 hrs of electricity per light. Multiply that by however many lights you have and imagine the savings. Think if everyone who was growing was saving 5 hrs of electricity per light and you are talking about a lot of money and electricity. You can read the second post in the thread and it will tell you all of this, and if you read the first post you will know that I did not create this schedule, but rather trying it out. Just because nobody answers your question does not make this pointless, if you would of read the first two posts in the thread it answers your questions.

So does this mean i should be able to run 13-11 in veg cycle ? if they only need 13 hours light to maintain , is the 5.5 off 1 on 5.5 off needed at all ? i may have missed the answer if i have my apologies in advance ....

Yes, you need the hour in between. If your lights are off for 11 hrs straight they will go into flower. Second post in beginning of thread has the light cycle.

Yeah i just thought i would check , i kinda new the answer , that light regime is not possible for all to achieve , so many reasons why....

I dont see anybody considering the extra stress on your hid equipment with the extra turning on and off , this will restrict ballast life , and double the amount of time you are starting them up each day , the most expensive part of running a Hid unit is the start up.... just my 2bobs worth...

In another thread on some other site (Cant remember) they addressed that and came to the conclusion that it wouldnt hurt your ballest and the small amout it hurts the bulb is worth it.

Im not saying they are correct but thats what they said.
sorry i dont have any real data on that.

I know what you mean.
I was only able to try it because i was in between runs and had a room open to try it, while i kept mothers and clones in another room.

i have 2 rooms , 1 keeps the other warm whilst the other is in dark , i save on heating that way , reproducing hot air , i tried to do the math and work out if it would be possible , so i toked a joint , thought about the math and spaghetti'd my brain ...

I have the opposite problem where my room gets too hot if they are on 18 hrs. This keeps temperature level for me since I run my lights at night and only have to have them on for an hour during the day. Thanks for the postive input guys

I have read the thread. It just isn't logical, also your explanation has not helped.

if you want to save electricity then why not just veg on 18/6 or 20/4 or 22/2? the reason why people veg on 24/0 is because of faster cell division, real growth. taking away an hour of light will serve to lower that cell division. Meaning less real growth, meaning the longer it will take the plant to reach maturity. giving the plant 1 hour of darkness every 12 hours is just silly and pointless.

My question in this thread have not been answered satisfactorily enough. to save electricity? that's an old argument for why 18/6 is better than 24/0 and it's complete bollocks. you are not saving electricity.... as the plants will take longer to mature. where does the lot of money come into it?

I cannot believe an old argument like that is, what appears to be, your only reason for 12/1.
