does it get cold duringt lights off? ive heard that can cause some purpling of the leaves..... and i think we're using the same flowering nutes, the blue MG powder right?? although im flushing my girl now for her last couple weeks.... keep it up grape!!

It gets down to 65F sometimes, only because I forget to turn my heater on at night.. and I have actually noticed when I turn my heater on during the night, the purple goes away.. lol

and as for the MG question, yup, its the blue granules.. I use it at 1/8 to 1/4 strength, in 16 ounces of water, every other watering.. If I notice ANY yellowing, I just skip the nutes and give her water..

im on day 20 of flowering and im gonna add some side lighting too!!

Also that lady is looking healthy.

I got a question, how did the plant turned to flowering? did she did it automatically?

Yea red stems are an indication of a lack of some type of nutrients. May also be nitrogen as I have read that often has a lot to do with the stem color and growth. May take a week or so to correct don't overfeed or anything cause they are looking fine and dandy. Side lighting really helps my plants good to hear you threw some in your grow.

He's on 12/12, red spectrum and feeding bloom nutes... Thats how.

Here's some info on what you may be lacking in the way of red stems.
If you have a deficiency in...
NITROGEN (N)Pale plants, red stems, smaller growth. Rapid yellowing of lower leaves progressing up the plant. Add any chemical fertilizer containing N. Treated plants recover in about a week.

PHOSPHORUS (P)Slow or stunted growth, red stems. Smaller leaves that are dark green. Lower leaves yellow and die. Add chemical fertilizer containing P. Affected leaves will not show recovery but new growth will apear normal.

POTASSIUM (K)Affected plants are usually tallest and appear to be most vigorous. Necrotic spots form on lower leaves. Red stems. Leaves appear pale or yellow. Add chemical fertilizer containing K.


Below is a mix of what i thought you were lacking a few weeks ago.

CALCIUM (Ca)Lack of calcium in the soil results in the soil becoming too acid. This leads to Mg or Fe deficiency or very slow stunted growth. Treat by foliar feeding with one teaspoon of dolomatic lime per quart of water until condition improves.
SULFER (S)Plants suffering from S definciencies exhibit yellowing of new growth. Mix one tablespoon of Epsom salts per gallon of water until condition improves.

MAGNESIUM (Mg)Lower leaves yellow and may even turn white while veins remain dark green. Blades die and curl upward.

Soooo, looks like I need to feed with a fertilizer with a high N and P??? The liquid food I have is 8-7-6, can I just give it a 2X dose of that over the next few feedings?

i used two different cheap nutes a 10-15-10 and a 15-30-15 when my girl got big.... u can mix different nutes

Don't over fert because they are still looking healthy. Try supplementing your fertilizer with some micro-nutrients. I use Earth Juice Microblast. It's devoid of N-P-K so it wont blow out your normal fertilization schedule. It supplies the essential nutrients for plant development. I had a few plants that had grown tall and skinny like yours and after feeding them some micro-nutrients they bushed out. Take it a day at a time and see how they respond to whatever nutrient changes you make. Healthy plants with red stems are better then burnt out over fertilized plants with dead leaves. Good luck and give them the best!

I see where your coming from but, I wouldnt agree in some cases thoe. Considering if your lacking P or K your buds don't develop properly, but hey i dont have the camera to show you proof of bud differences when you have red stems so i cant really be the one to judge. Im sure grape's got it under control. :peace:

Still got the red stems goin on.. Dunno when the fert increase will take care of that, or if it even will.. but the buds are definately doing what they do, they are getting bigger, trichs all over the place, stinky like a skunk sprayed my fingers when i barely touch them.. This grow is pretty much hit or miss, when its done I will have more experience and will know more of what my plant needs.. but I will still come here and ask for help, I'm sure of that much.. lol..

The red stems rarely turn back to green. They are more likely to get stripes of green as ive noticed before, But the higher stem growth should be green. Updates?:bigjoint:

Yep agreed. I have some red stems on one of my weaker plants (he's had some trouble). I made corrections to the conditions and the leaves regained their health but the stems stayed red. Check the underside sometimes it's still green and that's a good sign. Also you will see pale green or green stripes which indicates health has returned. Red stems is just an indicator not a problem. As long as you have taken the right steps you will be fine, and it takes about a week or two or three more waterings before you can be sure the problem is solved.
