Cancer patients should get it covered. I know the canadian medical system well and it rocks. Theres no way that an appitite enhancer and a pain drug, and anti nauseant, shouldnt be free if its wanted. When cancer patients start feeling the full effect of the treatment sometimes frozen foods are all they want to consume, like a popsicle or an icecream.
While I agree with you that cancer patients who cannot afford their medicine should get it for free, why stop there? Other conditions may not be terminal but the symptoms are no less debilitating and can be controlled with pot. Canada does not consider the financial burden on the sick as a reason to provide compassionate care...the only ones entitled to free weed are the military and RCMP....taxpayer funded, of course. Our medical system, while touted as being one of the best, is actually a joke. Sure, it's almost free, but that doesn't help when you have a wait list years long. I'm 5 years into a 12 year wait for a new knee, unable to work and I just turned 52. If I had been covered by wcb or private insurance it would have been done.
Well if twelve years is too long to wait for a free knee you can come down to the states and pay for a new knee anytime.
i'd raise a bit of a stink as well. maybe see your MP or MLA if it's really bad. my Mom is waiting but her knee isn't bad enough to be put on the list. i think it's 3 years or something crazy like that but not 12...wow. she's in Alberta

They say it's because of the 'life expectancy' of the knee replacement...they only want to do it once. I said fuck it...stopped seeing doctors all together and I'll die with the same parts I was born with! lol
nothing exaggerated what-so-ever. They put me on cpp disability at 47 instead of doing it. I'm sure I could raise a stink and get it done sooner, but it took two years just to get it to see the orthopedic surgeon...I'm done with doctors.Riiiight? It seems a little exagerated, like the original post

not really. some insurance companies cover weird stuff while some others don't. i was told by mine that if it has a DIN, it's covered.

You guys should seriously come and pay for healthcare in the states. I dont get it, where you guys are coming from on this one. I always had the best expiriences with canadian healthcare. Broken this, sick from that, pnemonia, whatever, in and out, thankyou come again. No bill. My buddy got an mri in the states that cost him 20 thousand dollars, without even being helped, just photographed. How much was your diagnosis vina? Its 300 per x ray photo. Just sayin.
