man nug so sorry to hear that bro, my system has been working great from day one and i bought the thing off of ebay for cheap. i dont know how to DIY the problem because i havent personally had the problem but i cna say that the controller that HR threw up there is a good one. im personally going to the sentinel E&F once i change the room want to try it and not much sentinel makes is shit.

is the float switch sticking or is it just not working at all, i have had my controller not fill or drain on occasion when i move it allot or unplug it allot but i usally just unplug it and reset it and it works fine after that.
hey drgreen. thanks for at least trying to help. it's weird. it's the top float valve. its like it catching on something or not getting in line with the little switch that is on there. if i tap it or move it to the side then it's fine. i twisted the float valve around a little so it's not straight up and down and it seems to work so far. i'm gonna have to see if all goes well here in a few hours. i sent a long email to CAP and hopefully they will send me a new one. turns out they are basically r&m supply and almost everything i bought besides the water cooled stuff was from them. i sent them a copy of my receipt so hopefully they send me a new one overnight on monday.

If your having to tap the switch to get it to turn on its toast! Nug dont do soil get that aqua hub!
Yah you could get a few more plants in there but hydro will out yield soil everytime!
hey hellraizer. i just can't seem to get any of my hydro plants to stay healthy. two of the strains have had the claw the entire time. they are all yellowing. i can't seem to clone anything without it dying. my moms which are in soil seem to be doing fine. i messed up and put them under the lights to quickly after spraying them with neem oil but they are growing like crazy. i can not figure out why my plants keep clawing and yellowing. i have the ones in the flower room now for 5 days and the roots on them are amazing. when i put them in there they had maybe a few little sprouts out of the bottom. now they almost all have like 10-15 2-4" roots coming outta everywhere. that to me says they are healthy. but they all have the claw for the most part. they are all super yellow. and even the ones in the 4" blocks that were really starting to do well are all yellow. i've tried less nutes, more nutes, less water, more water, etc... not sure what is going on.

i moves the clones that were left over into soil on tuesday. it's gotta be something in that sunshine mix or in the worm castings cause they have that little white fungi forming now as well. even they have the claw. it's gotta be the nutrients. could it be cal/mag? on the next watering i'm gonna push them to like 1000ppm and see what happens. i don't care if i burn them. i just want to see if i can get rid of the claw. i have the flower res at 600ppm and been feeding the ones in soil 500ppm.

man i am lost. i'm not giving up. i just don't know what my next step is.

Whats your solution is it organic? I think you made your nutrient solution into a basic organic tea which is why it was bubbling and smelled funny. That's just a guess thou because I'm soil and I use prozyme in my organic teas. I tend to tell first time growers to go in soil because its harder to mess up and it usually cost more to go hydro. But I think whether you stay with hydro or go to soil the best solution to most of your problems is follow a grow/feeding schedule that is of somebody's grow that you want to get the same results they have. You will probably have to change some things but its a good starting off point. I personally love soil because it's more flavorful and it is easier for me but hellraizer is right you will yield more out of hydro once you got it dialed in. Whatever you do look for a proven guide for soil or hydro and follow that and you shouldn't run into so many problems.

hey guys! i'm in soil for now! yesterday when i went to check on the watering the controller bucket still didn't work right and i had that funky smell and foam starting to build up again in my reservoir. i ripped out the entire system. transplanted all of the plants to sunshine #4 with worm castings mixed in. when i was doing this i think i found the culprit of my reservoir problem. not sure though. the rockwool cubes (especially the 4") had a slimy film on them. not sure what it was. i cleaned them all as best i could. i didn't have enough pots so i used the 18 inserts from the cap system after i washed them out. i turned off 1 light for now. placed all of the plants in a 4x4 tray that i had cause i didn't have any saucers. gave them all a healthy watering and then got to work on my cap system. took out all of the pumps and reservoir and cleaned them with bleach. cleaned all of the hydroton with h2o2. removed all of the tubing and threw it away. clean my coil and everything really well. stored it in guest bedroom with a dehumidifier so that it would dry everything out really well.

my plan now is to get a new ebb and grow system. think going with the sentinel system. this cap system is garbage and has really crappy components. i'm not making that mistake again. i'm also looking at a diy under current system. i'll probably just stick with sentinel system though. but for now the girls are all is soil. should have some pics for you guys tomorrow.

hey guys, well there is a lot to update. sorry i haven't been aboe to post recently but i have been really busy.

so. got the girls in soil for now. sunshine #4 with some worm castings. they seem to be doing better since the transplant. i moved the light down when they came on tonight. got it to about 2' above them. they are in the 2 gallon cap buckets for now till I can get them good and rooted. i'm not expecting much from them but i'd like to be able to nurse them back to health and get a little something out of them. that would be an accomplishment in itself. just try and get the nutes dialed in; see what is causing the claw; and also see what is causing the yellowing. i have another 13 in veg right now that i transplanted to sunshine a while back. they seem to be doing really well but i am still battling the claw with them.

so, after a ton of research and talking to a few friends of mine i am about to make a power move. i'll lay the plan out for you guys.

i'm going soil for now. going to turn my 8x8 tent into a full soil room. i'm adding another lumatek and magnum xxxl. getting new 600w bulbs and will run the room in 3 sections under dimmed lumateks with 600w bulbs. going to add hepa filters to the intakes for all of the lights in both rooms to cut down on dust on my bulbs and glass. I figure my chiller will be able to handle the load since i will be dimming the lights. have to get another ice box and redo the plumbing slightly to accomodate it. i'm going to start ordering stuff this coming week but i won't be able to do anything till this crop is done so i'll have plenty of time to prepare. i'm still up in the air about which medium to use so i am going to test out a variation of 3. i'm going to do sunshine and worm castings. sunshine with 30% coco. and pure coco. i figure that i should be able to fit 27 plants in the room no problem cause i am keeping them rather small anyway (3-4' at harvest). i'm going to be using a mix of house and garden base nutes and a brewed tea using john evans (bountea) humasoil, bio activator, m3 mineral magic, and b3 better bloom. possibly some molasses as a bloom booster as well. will be doing a feed, tea, feed, tea, water cycle. after a while i'll find the medium that works best for me. with the addition of the extra light i'm going to add a light controller with dual triggers and 2 hot strike/high temp box. i'm going to be running the plants on a perpetual harvest after i have figured out which medium i like best. probably take me 2-3 harvest to do so. also going to be adding stronger tent supports which will allow me to hang the carbon filter from the ceiling to free up some room.

the veg room is pretty much staying the same. adding a hot strike box to the ballast and will be running it at 600w with a 600w bulb as well to reduce the load on the chiller and use less electricity. making some minor changes to the cloning regiment. will be adding roots excelurator, superthrive, hormex, and thrive alive to the cloning nutes. cal mag and tea to the veg nutes along with the house and garden nutes.

now, don't get all bent out of shape hydro guys. i'm still gonna stcik with it for a while and keep trying it till i get it right. ordering a 4x8 tent with the reinforced poles as well. 2 lumatek 1000w lights which i'll run dimmed with 600w bulbs. getting the sentinel ebb and flow system with 12-18 sites. will be running 2 magnum xxxl hoods with 2 ice box and 1 fan. another carbon filter and co2 generator. i'm going to run this tent opposite cycle as the other one to reduce the load on the chiller at one time. same regiment but i will take the 4" rockwool blocks out of the equation for now. will veg them in the 1" plugs till they are ready to go then i will push them into flower at about 12". i may still try and play around with a few of the blocks to see what the issues is with this slime that is forming on them. either way i am gonna stick with the hydro and try and get it figured out. this week is gonna be a big one; lots of stuff to plan so that i can have this ready in 5-6 weeks.

what do you guys think? any comments?

hey guys. here's a little update.

hey FAB. i'm gonna play around with a 12-18 site hydro setup on the side. gonna get a 4x8 tent and run 1200w in there. that will give me plenty of room to mess around with hydro and try and dial it in. i'm not giving up by a longshot but i just wanna get growing right now. i'm gonna run it on an opposite light cycle as my soil room so that my chiller can handle the load.

if you guys remember on saturday i sent an email to CAP about their system and my problems. well i got a response this morning bright and early. they are sending me a new controller bucket, a set of float valves and sensors to try and fix my old bucket, and a bunch of free tubing as well. very cool to see that they at least stand behind their product and warranty. i honeslty didn't think they would give me all of that. i did kinda play the "newb victim first time grower gonna cry this weed was my baby" card on them. lol

spent most of the weekend putting together my shopping list. it's a HUGE one but I got the guy to give me almost 20% off everything. should all be here in 2-3 weeks. some of the stuff that i had to order seperately will take a little time. so the hydro order is placed. the bountea order is placed. now it's time to figure out what i'll need from the plumbing supply store to re-rig my water manifolds. figure i'm gonna have to install watergate valves on timers to the manifold lines somehow so that i'm not sending water to the euipment in the hydro room or soil room when they are off. i still have to get water to the ice box that are cooling the room though. gotta get to the drawing board. oh well, if these plants that i transplanted to soil stay healthy then i've got 5-6 weeks to figure it out.

yes it is good to see a company that values customers and not just after the one time sale
they dont want u to give up cuz u might not buy more of their products

its hard to learn the fickleness of indoor growing, and to learn to run a hydro set-up at the same time. nothing builds success........like success. play wit tha hydro while you grow some dankity.
003.jpgmy current play-mate at end of second week of 12/12. Strawberry Cough x Jack Herrer x Skunk. damn lanky sativa. frosty for so early in flower, but scrawny. definitely more of a strain for HID. Orange Kush is in the bull-pen, warming up. back to Indica.

hey guys, so a lot going on today. besides the fact that i am becomming a brown dirt warrior! hey scroglodyte...sign me up for the worm poop club.

so i got the plumbing figured out. i'm going to redo the pvc lines when i get everything ready to go. if i try and split the manifold lines then i can run into trouble. the guys at hydro innovations said that you should just run 1 line through all 3 tents. they said that when the other equipment isn't running just let the water pass through it anyway; no harm will be done. plus since i have the 1hp pump he said i have plenty of water pressure. sweet. just need to replace the pvc lines and set them up for 3 tents and a few extra things.

this morning i flushed all of the plants in my veg room. last week i feed them pretty hard to see what their limits were. got some burn on a few of the leaves and so i flushed them today with cal/mag. when i went and checked on them this afternoon they are looking great. tomorrow or the next day i'm gonna flush the ones in the flower room too. they look like shit but a few of them seem to be picking back up since the transplant to soil a few days ago. if i can get anything out of them that would be a miracle. got nothing better to do right now so i'm gonna keep playing with them.

thanks man, i appreciate it. i'm gonna keep plowing along though. my moms are doing great. still messing around with LST on them and they are growing like crazy. jsut having bad luck with trying to veg and flower some of these guys. soil seems to be the route for now. still gonna mess around with hydro though. i am not one to quit on anythig and i really wanna learn it.

hey guys. just gonna throw up some pics of the veg tent. i'm going to flush the plants in the flower tent with some cal/mag tonight so i'll post pics tomorrow of those guys.

here are the mommies. they are really growing fast and looking great. there are still some signs of nute burn but i expected that. i really pushed them a week ago to see what the linits were on their feedings. gonna scale the next feeding back to 1000ppm and probably stick there for now. they have all pretty much recovered from the neem oil mistake when i put them back under the lights too soon. plus for the most part the yellowing problem is gone. i think it might have been from the bleach. some of the older lower leaves still have it but the new growth is really good.

DSC00715.jpg DSC00716.jpg DSC00717.jpg DSC00718.jpg

here are some of the 12 clones that i didn't transplant into flower. i put them in soil about 8 days ago and flushed them yesterday morning. they are really starting to look good. the spacing is really good and the color too. only one of them still has some slight yellowing left over from when i cloned them. for the mist part the clawing has toned down a little. still some signs but they are much better than before.
