A simple organic garden

Harvest day was yesterday!!! Had to take them a week earlier than I wanted bc the temps and humidity here have been crazy high. I know now to never put my tent in an outside shop again lol overall I’m pleased with the quality of both girls that made it. They should’ve been double in size I believe but I delt with freezing temps when they were young, had light and watering problems, and soon as it came time to flower it decided to be 90s with 80-90% humidity so I’m just happy they made it until the end.

Took some time off from growing after last summers shit show lol this year decided to do it right and build the ladies a home they've always deserved. still running in the same spot but I ripped out the 4x4 tent and moved around the 2x3 tent to make room for a solid wood room. I came across some spare lumber and my buddy had a brand new window unit he barley used, so my brain got to spinning and I built a roughly 3 foot wide, 6 foot high, and 7 foot long box and rigged up the ac unit on one side with vent holes to pull fresh air into my 2x3 tent for clones and seedlings. The way its set up the inline fan will pull fresh, cool air from the ac unit, through the room(side note: partner and I decided to dub the grow box the "tahj mahal" bc...well stoned, thats why haha) and into the tent to keep things nice and cool in there as well. Ive been able to keep temp and humidity problems at bay and the ladies are loving life so far. Right now they are under some cheap led house light bulbs but I have a 400W hps for flower and pretty soon will have either 2 or 3 315 cmh fixtures to run either with the hps or just alone. love what ive been seeing from the 315's and want to give them a try. Anything to cut down electric costs is fine by me.

Not gonna try to pretend I'm some expert but since 2013 I've read and researched and grown my own trying all different kinds of techniques and different lights, nutes, blah blah. Basically i've skimmed this whole site since then and seen the truths and the bullshit and decided to take a little bit from everything I've learned and use in my garden. It's not hard to wade through the bull on this site and see guys who know their shit, so I learned from them and watched how they did things. Say what you will but @subcool and @nugbuckets have some the most useful info that I always find myself coming back to. There are MANY others but those 2 are the main ones i started following early on. I've settled on as "organic" as possible for my ladies and I haven't regretted it one bit. I still use local compost that comes smelling like the best dirt youve ever smelled. This run we decided to use the same compost and mixed it with coco choir for some aeration. Started the ladies in rapid rooters, then moved to solo cups with some store brand seed starter mix(mostly peat and perlite) and now they are in their final homes of local compost, coco choir, EWC, and left over rootballs from last year. I've noticed that just a few simple ingredients makes my plants nice, green, and happy. Now I do use teas throughout during veg and flower to add a little "Umpf" in there lol but basically thats it. I water when bags are light or they look like they need it. Enough rambling here's some shots::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

Forgot to mention: first run is 6 bagseeds of some dank and 5 cheesequake from TGA. Next run will be clones of the best CQ and bagseeds, plus i have 5 of each: Jillybean, Space Bomb, and Marionberry Kush.

Added another light yesterday and straightened some things up in the room. Hoping these little 60w equivalent LED's can keep em growing until i get the CMH's in and set up. Still can't decide if I should do 2 CMH for flower or 1 CMH and my 400W HPS cooltube. Really just trying to be electricity bill and heat conscious. Running 2 CMH's would eliminate the need for another inline fan to cool the HPS therefore cutting even more electricity costs. Think I'm gonna take @Carolina Dream'n advice and cool the room not the lights, so therefore I'll crank up the window unit and see if it can keep everything cool without adding another inline fan.

here's a closeup of 2 different "bagseeds" I say bagseeds like its bad but they are all from some crazy named stuff out there these days

Lastly, the ones I hope take off and give me a good female at least: Cheesquake from TGA(now The Dank) stem rub already smells stinky

California is wonderful in that you don't have to look over your shoulder in regards to cannabis. And obviously the Emerald Triangle grows some of the best stuff in the world. BUT it is expensive to live here and only getting worse. I can't even imagine buying a home here. And I find the people moving here (in ridiculous numbers) are generally impatient, rude, gentrifying...

AND legalization of weed will most likely be a total mess, playing into the hands of big corporations.

Oh well, call me an idiot but I'm heading to the South...guess the grass is always greener

Ps. Don't want to be a total downer! You got some good looking plants. And I'm glad you went organic. Keep working on it and hopefully whatever state you are in will go legal at some point and you can grow for a living.
IKR? I was born and raised in southern California since 1978. my family came from Brooklyn in 1964. The changes I've witnessed in the last 20 years has really shocked me. I don't feel at home anymore. The traffic is crazy, the prices on EVERYTHING is outages and our city officials are all greedy corrupt jerks.

You're exactly right about the types of ppl moving in but I think it's due to the high rents and prices . I've witnessed entire apartment complexes get evicted under the premise of "remodeling", while the rents have DOUBLED over night. So these newcomers are stressed out because they're literally paying almost $2000k for a one bedroom apartment in Orange County. It's sad and disgusting how greedy these development / property management companies are. They have no hearts.

It's funny, ppl who have lived here for a long time can't stand it anymore and want to leave. I've got plans to get out also as my house is worth almost $800,000k! Its crazy! I could buy 1000 acres in the north west for that price!

Anyways, end rant and back to the orgasmic buds! Lmao, I meant organic. Great buds tho btw

It's getting better around here now. Its still the south, but every farmer is growing hemp now and its changing peoples minds real fast. Spent all weekend making CBD oil with 2 of the biggest farmers around here. Showed them how I've always done it and talked to them about hemp and different ways to grow it. I think i may have even scrounged up a little contract to build an indoor grow room for one farmer who wants to really take cbd to the next level and start finding good phenos and doing breeding projects. Exciting things may be on the horizon hopefully! Another thing I didn't realize, people around here are smoking hemp flowers more than i expected. I figured most people want CBD as an oil or edible but it seems people around here like nice smokable flower. Head shops are selling $80 eighths down at the beach of HEMP flower, nothing but CBD. Think I may have a new calling, Growing nice sticky indoor hemp for smokable flower. Could be a gold mine.....and better yet, legal.

I would be out of there so fast! Down here on this little island where I live, you could buy a mansion with 50 acres for that! The laws are still fucked up, but hoping that will change before long.

Here's a few pictures of a wax run me and a friend did this past weekend. We used about 24 grams or so of flower. I think it was some sunset sherbet and it was pretty dark and sticky. We ended up with around 5.6-5.8 grams of "shatter." I say it like that because honestly I dont know exactly what it is haha its shatter when its frozen but at room temp its workable but doesnt stick to your hands or anything really. Ended up with really good flavor and a couch lock high. The flavor when dropped on a hot banger was incredible, almost like a fruity, tropical oasis in your mouth haha!

And a quick shot of the cheesquake corner. Everything else in the tent has been topped except for these. They were started a little later, so I'm gonna wait another week or two.

Here's a little update from yesterday. Unfortunately none of my Space Bomb, Marionberry Kush, or jillybean seeds popped. I think i let the water they were soaking in get too cool and they never really cracked open. Put them in paper towels for a day or two and they got really mushy and waterlogged almost. Im disappointed in myself bc I waited 4 years to grow those seeds and blew it lol I guess you live and you learn.

I mixed up some water and fish hydroslate (5-1-1) and let it bubble overnight in a bucket and gave them all a nice watering. This stuff stinks so freaking bad but I swear the ladies love it so they get what they want. This first picture is the cheesquake corner finally building some nice roots. The topped plant in the front is a bagseed and the others are CQ. One clone is the only CQ I've topped yet and the other is a hemp clone I'm growing out for a local farmer bc he was saying indoor smokable hemp(CBD) is going for 2k a lb and its legal to grow so im showing him what i can do with it indoors.

Topped and took clones of 3 more CQ’s. Rearranged the lights and gave everyone a good watering with some 5-1-1 fish hydroslate. Things looking good I’d say.

Few updates: got a 315 MH light ordered and some mykos. Gave them another watering today with fish hydro. I can tell they are getting a better, darker shade of green. I think they were needing that N more than I thought. I think another 2-3 weeks and I’ll flip. Not rushing it this year so I may veg longer and take more clones. Already have like 5-6 taken and could use some more for next round. For flower I’ll be using my same 400w cooltube HPS and adding the 315 CMH so I’m hoping for some nice flavors and yields.

Today I got the room set up for flower. Pulled the ladies out and hit them with some fish hydroslate and water again. Also gave them an aloe and epsom salt foliar. I love the way they respond to the aloe foliar. For flower I’ll be using my old 400w cooltube HPS and a 315w CMH. I’ll be rotating them every few days between the two lights to get equal amounts of each light to the ladies. They’re gonna be on 18/6 for another week or two and then I’ll flip. I just wanted to give them some time to get used to the new lights and fill in the room a little more. I’ve taken clones of each and I’ll take another round right before the buds set. So far they seem to be loving life so I can’t complain. :weed:

And last is a cheesequake clone after just two weeks showing some killer roots. Had to up-pot to avoid any problems.

First male started showing this week. It was a nice bagseed with thick stems and already smelling sour and stinky so I kept the best clone and culled the rest. I’m gonna try my hand at seeds next time so I’ll see what this male can do.

And here’s a lights out shot. I have them on 18/6 right now. Flipping the last week of aug.
