Hey I am about to start my first grow and was gonna get the base advanced nutes so should i get the big bud in the powder or liquid? The powder is cheaper, but the other three will be liquid. Thanks

My bad harry, it really doesn't matter, the powder is a little cheaper in the long run, but if you don't have a digital scale to weigh it out, I'd go with the liquid, it measures in mL, the powder gets weighed in grams.

Good choice picking advanced.

MrHowardMarks is right. The powders tend to come out cheaper overall, but if you can't accurately measure dry weight you can end up not knowing exactly how much you're adding. It's not rocket science but you want to be careful all the same.

One thing you could do is find someone who can measure it out right for you and then find something handy that holds exactly that amount of powder (or you can mark at the "full" level) and use that to measure your powder. Still not accurate, but close enough for this kind of thing.

I just use the liquid. As MrHowardMarks says it doesn't really matter and since I'm already measuring out liquids it's just a lot easier to do it all the same. The extra money I might be spending in a year just isn't worth worrying about when I figure in how much easier it is to do.

So it depends completely on how you want to do it.

I never actually bothered with the math, but that seems about right. Skip a trip to Burger King or something and you've paid the difference.

man all those nutes are mass produced and very skechy sounding to me, ive seen how great the results are . but have also seen the same if better on ALOT less.

Dont scorn at the mud.

No one can debate that people can grow really well on crap like MG. It's a question of how consistently you can grow that well and how much expertise it takes to get those results.

Simply not stunting the hell out of your plants with some crap fertilizer can be pretty tough.

But regardless, you just can't compare the best-case scenario results of cheap versus quality nutrients. No matter how great you are wielding MG you just aren't going to get the kind of results a similar master of, say, Advanced Nutrients.

 A comparison of Miracle Grow to Advanced Nutrients

All the plants in my albums were grown with Advanced Nutes. It's not a matter of does Miracle Grow work, it's a matter of how does it smoke, and if you want to put that shit in your lungs :spew:

Other organics surely work, but how many have fungal spores and bacterial cultures, along with countless other beneficial ingredients for organic growing?

Sketchy? I don't get it :?

I think the reason that most people don't reply is it sounds like you know more than them. ( In a good way) I read tons of postings because I'm still learning and appreciate you guys opening up your operations. Keep it up and thanks.

haha first off mg is crap, AN makes great producs, BUT, for the price of getting a complete nute program from them id waaaay rather just go BMO, i would however still get the organic b and senzyme, maybe some bloom products too but agean, i could get just as danky a crop with 40 bucks in BMO products and a little horti know how.

I would have to say your not going to get nearly the same results with 40 bucks worth of nutes. I dont use AN but i use a combo of b'cuzz, dark energy,2 kinds of bat guano, metanaturals growth, metanaturals bloom, botanicare sweet, microhiaze. It adds up but the results are always outstanding. I used to use a two part synthetic solution and the results were not nearly as good as my current regimin. I dont have the money to go all out like norml does, simply because i tend to smoke my entire crop even when i intended to sell it off. I just cant bear to part with herb that i put so much care and effort into. But if one day i find the will power to just let it go,i would deffinatly buy the entire AN line. Iv found that some products out there may be a bit gimmicy, but in my experience the more you spend on your nutes the better the product ;as long as you keep it organic.

This round I'm going to mess with a couple different regiments...

AN 2part with;
Sensizym,
Big bud,
barricade,
carbo load,
sweetleaf,
B52,
Humic,
Fulvic.

I haven't yet decided on either Botanicare or Foxfarm...

I'm also comparing 5gal soil to 5gal bubble buckets, or DWC... Check out my journal, I'll be blooming soon. So far I've only covered cloning, FIM, grow room setup, and the seedling stage... 6 lights 600W digital ballasts, 54 buckets.

I've always found FF worked a lot better in soil than it does in hydro. They say it's made for hydro too but it's pretty clear they care more about soil performance. So in my book it's not quite fair to compare FF to Advanced Nutrients. I mean the AN stuff is better across the board, but in hydro especially it's just going to kick FF's butt.

Botanicare is a more fair competitor. I still have my opinion as to who'll win, but at least Botanicare isn't as handicapped.

So you think I should try Botanicare over FoxFarm?

I'm doing mostly soil, only 9 hydro. The majority will be grown with Advanced, just wanted to try some not so new products.

what do you advanced nutrients guys think of voodoo juice.
sorry if youve already addressed the issue.

VooDoo is the shit for hydro, didn't see a dramatic difference in soil... Scorpion definately increases resin production.

Both a foliar feed and in the resevoir. Every other week, 2,4,6... The shit's really expensive, and you use a lot, like 30mL per gallon. =(6tsp)=(3tbsp)

It says it's a systematic viral inhibitor, but what I recently learned, is it's a defense mechanism for your plants, and the plants defense is resin, so basically it's for increased resin production... Not health and viral inhibitor as I once thought, it allows the plant to defend itself like crazy, and produce incredible amounts of trichromes.

yeah, i remember reading that info.
they have so many additives, i dont know what i really need.

mr. mark, and my apologies to everyone cause this is an organic thread.
whice advanced additives would you highly recommend for hydro
