Almost there! Build thread to grow thread. 2x 100qt igloos 1000w HPS/MH-unkwn strain

sprayers, thats whats missing. I'm into igloo but I tend to wanna make them active with water pump and sprayers, this is for two reasons, the first being that when young maybe the roots aren't breaking the bottom of the pot yet, a good spray right at the pot helps this a lot The second reason being I can have less water in the cooler meaning I use less nutrients.. I'm not sure how you went about building the top for that but it looks like I'm seeing a tape and exposed adhesive side to it right in the res(although I'm pretty ripped atm). More air too, can't have enough.

whoever said nute burn I doubt it, as soon as my clones are rooted they get 1000 ppm of grow, not much burn to it, clonex liquid comes in at 1500 ppm if you follow directions.I veg with dyna gro right at about 1000 ppm from day one .

Im digging the setup! Same coolers I have, just, I didnt want to cut into the top. I might just do it though....I doubt I will ever use these as coolers now. Do you have any more pictures of this tank?

I took two sheets of insulation board, cut to size, wrapped with panda film, then taped together. Would flipping it over have much effect? The other side has some tape, but not nearly as much.

yeah I got some more pictures somewhere I think, I used the panda plastic and foam board on my big igloo but soon realized just to poke holes in the lids. I just bought another 70 quart igloo marine and am thinking of poking holes in it for a veg unit but can't motivate(I'd rather go fly some RC, after hash rips that is). let me see if I have more photos, I've built like 4 coolers and many totes, wish I could find someone local wanting some totes because I'm done with uninsulated res, heres a link to some of the stuff I built/grew, I'll look for anymore I've taken that may be helpful. If you need any info just pm me.

Let me go on to add, when you put a pump in the cooler it is gonna heat things up a little UNLESS you cycle the pump, I go with less than one minute on and then 3-5 minutes off , water stays nice and cool. if you run the pump (depending a lot on how big and h ow much heat it creates) 24/7 its gonna heat the water up. Room temp here is around 70 or so and my water temps in the small unit above(cloner) stays at 65-68 f , I drop in a blue ice pack on hot days and its all good.

One other thing about igloos, I was torn today over which to get, a 70 liter marine or the cheap 50 liter with non-insulated lid, I like the idea of the non insulated lid just because when you cut a hole in an insulated lid you pretty much have to seal up the insulation which isn't a big deal.I'm going to put a bigger one together for cloning(not that I need more clones but I want to also use it for vegging small plants) and I'll probably get the cheap ones since they have thinner walls and I'll be able to install a bulkhead to daisy chain a couple together with 3/4 inch tubing.

and to answer your question, anytime you use something like that you're taking a chance of introducing something foreign to the res .go with cutting holes in the tops unless you can think of something else, I noticed home depot sells this plastic sheet thats like 1/8th of an inch thick, my idea was to get some styrofoam and glue that to each side of the foam than cut holes and seal the foam.
This would be nice since sometimes planning doesn't work just right and you end up popping a hole in your lid where you didn't want it , you're pretty much stuck with making it work like that.

The only thing Im worried about right now, is if I do put sprayers in the rez, they will get clogged up and be useless. Right now it really seems like the nutes/sensizym is making a mess of the rez.

Both rez's are at 350ppm and ph6.13(crept up over 3 days). I havent adjusted the PH yet. Going to leave it be until I do my next rez change.

I think this next time I will spray the roots with the mist adapter on my hose to clean off all the gunk. Ill scrub down the rez's and re-fill with a new mix. Not going to put sensizym in the mix this time.

used that stuff once, never again. there are only 2 AN additives I'm interested in and those are big bud and bud candy.

Couple of the Platinum Kush's. Bout to get some food tonight :) Think they will get bumped to about 750ppm

Plat Kush's got 680ppm today, bout 1/4 gallon each, pretty sure I was underfeeding.

Flushed and cleaned out Cooler #2. Re-filled with 460ppm.

Cooler #1...well....it can just do whatever its doing....which isnt much of anything. I might add more nutes later this week. But, not going to really both with it until I start seeing some new sprouts on top.

Im debating how I want to continue this grow, well, the headbands that is. Im thinking about topping the best one. Or perhaps I should just leave it alone? I want to get at least two clones off of her later on in the grow. Hopefully I'll be moved by then and have a clone box ready to go.

LIL nute burn on Cooler #2. They are fine though. :) Debating how soon I want to start training the center one...thinking another week or so.

Cooler #1....yeah....fail :( really surprised NONE of them are pulling through. I thought at least 1 of them would. Still, no change.

The Plats are doing great though :). Cant wait till flowering! The one sure does look different than the others, kinda weird? Almost wonder if I have 5 Platinum Kush's and 1 Headband...

Plat Kush's are at 950ppm now.

Cooler #2 roots are really starting to come in. Ill have to take some pictures come Sunday or so. ph has been slowly creeping up to 6.08 or so, pretty sure its just because the plants are eatting the nutes that keep it stable. Going to add some nutes to the rez tomorrow. No need for a full flush, its looking clean!

Cooler #1 is actually starting to show some signs of new life! We shall see how they do over the weekend. New leafs are growing! Still havent done a rez change on this one. Not going to either until after I get relocated. I did add some fresh water last night to bring the water level closer to the bottom of the pots.

Ill be getting the new location setup starting next week, then moving everything next weekend if all goes well.

still coming along, put the water pump into Cooler#2 to see if circulating the water would do much, all it did was create foam around the roots of the plant in the back. Took it out. I have to hit up the pet store tomorrow, going to look into more air stones. I want more air in there....
