When I was growing up the Red Scare was real. Our neighbor built a freakin' bomb shelter in his backyard. In school we actually practiced huddling under our desks, pretending that would make a difference when the Russian ICBM struck. The worst thing a Republican could call a Dem was a "commie sympathizer".

How ironic that we now have a commie sympathizer for Prez, and it's the Republicans' fault.
