Is the glass bulb in there cloudy? Does calibrate when using the solution?Hiya
As title says, i got a Bluelab ph pen, and despite clear intructions to keep the probe wet Ive let it dry out. Is it farked?
Cheers!
I have always used whatever water I dip it in but I use my well water. To note the storage solution is simple saline water.Great thanks for that, ill order some storage solution, whatever that is!
HM makes some of the best units. I have an HM TDS pen in my veg room that has been with me for a very long time. Good piece of gear.On a Blue lab or a Hannah multi meter. Once gone dry, your most likely going to be buying a new probe to make it work right again.
Found that this HM model pH -80 is the most durable pen ever used... She dried out for over a year. Soaked her for 14 hrs and recalibrated it. Shell move to .1 high and sit that way for over a month.
For the price, feel this is the best one out there short of a lab quality and over $400 per handheld unit.

So, if you have to get another probe for that Blue lab. Get the HM one instead, you'll save money over buying a new probe!
True but some nutes are next to impossible to tell a corect colorYou know what doesn't dry up on you suddenly?
pH measuring drops.
The Blue Lab pen I have is nearly 5 years old. I neglected my pen for over a year when I purchased a Blue Lab Multi meter. I re hydrated the pen, calibrated it and works great. No matter the make. Proper storage and care is necessary for long term performance and accuracy. My Bluelab pen is over 3 years old and still going strong. Due to proper care and maintenance.
I sometimes add liquid humic acid and kelp extract. They are not nutrients. Or very little nutrient. They are additives. And they are black. Color drops dont work for me. Btw..Hanna has a new meter out called the Groline. An all in one probe and all in one calibration satchet. Looks pretty kewl.Stop using nutes with colorants in then.
Bromothymol Blue has a shelf life???Dried up or not. The reagent still has a shelf life.
