haha took me long till to.i drop 5k blocks coco out on these m ats then set up 10 gal grow bags-pots on top of that roots grow into swamp .I do armend go in to that later rippers drove me to grow like thisit's been long time since this old boy been ripped.peace

Is this mat naturally occurring? Or did you float something out there? I've seen folks grow on Styrofoam in cypress swamps down here. You take a big sheet of foam, build up a rim around the edge with more strips of foam, and poke hole in it so the roots can get through to the water. Add soil and grow. The trees provide cover and hold the plants up. My cypress pond is mostly pond with only a few trees, or I would be tempted to try it there.

I understand. My swamps are full of tall trees, so light is the main issue growing in them.

I got out at sunset yesterday to check on the plants in the holding ground. I had 2 BST cashed. One cup was still buried, the plant just dead, but the other cup was dug up again, and the plant pulled out. There were also 2 Slo2's pulled out, but I was able to re-pot them. All the cups that had been pulled up had been chewed on. Going forward I won't be using Styrofoam. I have plenty of Solo cups, but I'm going to try my luck with these six packs.

Speaking of which, the 2nd planting of CP1 has 6 for 6 on sprouts. And 1 for 3 of BST. Those were three seed that kept getting in my way on the cleaning tray, so I planted them. They are a few days behind the CP1's. Sadly the GV3 is 0 for 12. They have been planted longer than the other two. GV1 and GV2 both had germination rates of 88.88% {8 of 9}, so I don't know what to think of it. They are in the peat moss pucks, and the others were in potting soil. I'll try some more in soil to see what happens.

It got down to 37F this morning, but no frost thanks to the wind. I'll get up early in the morning. If there is frost I'll wash it off the plants with spray bottles. After I run the sprinklers in my veggie garden.

And tomorrow I'll be up to 13 hours visible light. I'm thinking I'll get by with the early start without early flower problems. I read somewhere that young plants grown from seed would stand longer nights than clones, since the clones are starting from a more mature plant. Makes sense to me.

It was 34F with a pretty good frost Tuesday morning. I got to the holding ground and washed the frost off the plants with a spray bottle. They all seem to be doing alright, other than a little extra coloration. Not sure, but I thought I saw hairs on one of the CP1's. That would be a pisser. But next year I will know to wait a little longer or find someplace to run lights for a couple of weeks.



Picture is kind of fuzzy when zoomed. Sorry about that. I have better cameras, but use my garden and woods camera because it's so tough.

I got 6 more holes dug yesterday near the PH and WH patches. I used 2 cups each of 13-13-13, 15-0-15, 13-7-13 time release plant food, perlite and coffee grounds. Also added 1/4 cup each of lime and Epson salts. The ground was heavy with gray clay, so I will have to add much more perlite before I plant these holes.

There were 9 whiskey jars around the patch, 7 of which were still intact. I packed 6 of them out. I named the patch WJ for Whiskey Jar.

I busted open the peat moss pucks to check on the GV3 seed. About 9 of the 12 had germinated, but none of them had pushed the shell off. I put all 12 of them in potting soil. Don't think I'll use the pucks again.

I worked on my reflective fireplace Wednesday night at the camp. Cobbing is slow going, but when I'm finished, it will be there.

It's been raining since this time yesterday. I put the 6 CP1 and 3 BST sprouts in the subterranean greenhouse this morning to keep them from drowning. We have another day and a half of it on the way. The plants in the holding ground are on their own. #survivalofthedankest

Just a note on taking symbolic hits as you plant seeds or dig holes. Take small hits.

Yesterday wasn't really a good "above ground" planting day, but last night at the camp I got the urge to put some seeds in soil. A close inspection of my camp stash turned up 1 CPDA, 2 GV1 and 9 BST seeds. I filled 2 of the 6 pack things with Jungle Growth or some such potting soil. I usually use Metro Mix, a very good soil for seeds. But this was what was in the truck. It is 50-55% tree bark, so I had to be careful not to let any big pieces cover the seeds.

Sorry, getting sidetracked. I was talking about symbolic hits. Back in the day my ritual had evolved to me taking a hit {facing east (where the sun rises)} as I put the soil in the cups, a hit {facing south} as the seeds went in. A hit {facing west} as the seeds get covered, and a hit {facing north} as you water them. Since I was planting seeds from diferent plants, I mixed up some CP1, CPDA, GV1 and BST for the hits. But to start with I was just doing 1 six pack, so when I decided to do the 2nd one, it was time to pack another bowl and do four more hits. I didn't really get much more done after that.

What I'm saying is the Lord can see your prayers with a lesser plume of smoke. And you might get something else done.

I smoked the first of the 2016 weed this week. I topped a couple of CP1's when I transplanted them. Mixed the dried tops with some of last year's CP1 bud. Not sure when I picked up this habit, but I try to do it every year. The circle of life. . . .

The deer topped one of my Slo2 plants at the holding grounds. If it lives I will breed the hell out of it.

The spur of the moment seed planting from Sunday night has resulted in 8 of 9 BST's sprouted, and 1 of 2 GV1's and 0 of 0 CPDA's. Sadly when I was packing a bowl Thursday morning before light I burnt up a CP1 seed. I had thought all the seeds had been cleaned out.

I was adding seeds to the seed storage this morning, and decided to grab my smoke notes. I tried to wait 10 minutes between hits, usually doing 2 1/2 hits. I noted the times, and I see I wasn't always on schedule. Anyway, here are a few of the ones I'll be running this season. {more to come later}

CP1 X Slo1

Smell- very good, mint
Inhale- light peppery
Exhale- smooth, musk
High- very good, thoughtful

GV1 X GV5

Smell- not much
Inhale-musty, musky, tingle on tongue
Exhale-
High- good

GV2 X GV5

Smell- yes
Inhale- cool mint
Exhale- dry cedar, musk
High- good

Slo2 X Slo1

Smell- grass
Inhale- mild
Exhale- musk
High- Good, but maybe just a hair less than the GV's

I have two sets of bag seeds I'm going to grow out to see what they do. {far away from everything else} I'm calling them BST1 and BST2. I didn't do real smoke notes like on my stuff, but. . . .

BST1 is light green, lightly compressed weed. {$130 for 26g}

Smell- fresh, spice
Inhale- smooth, just a hint of homegrown taste
Exhale- smooth again. mint
High- good, about 80-85% of the CP's.

BST2 is dark and sticky. Hard to break up for smoking kind of sticky. {$140 for 25g}

Smell- musky
Inhale- not enough data
Exhale- not enough data
High- Good, but I have only done a couple of hurried hits. Will do more testing tonight at the camp.
