There is no way for them to find the plants except for the human eye.

They are trying their hardest to clear out the large national forests in norcal, and massive crops you can't even imagine still make it through the year. this is with people placing generators and miles of irrigation in the forest.

Keep thinking they have all this fancy stuff that doesn't exist, it helps keep the prices up for the people who are in it for the money :)

It exists. I KNOW it exists.

Follow the money.

The government just doesn't consider it worth the expense.(In most cases.)

PLUS, if they eliminate the source, how will they catch us SMOKING the killer weed, and sending us to prison and fine us into bankruptcy?

Over a decade ago software was developed that can recognize the SHAPE of Cannabis leaves, just like the face recognition software Big Brother uses to find people in urban situations and air ports.

(N/A)
BELTSVILLE AGR RES CENTER
BELTSVILLE,MD 20705 NON TECHNICAL SUMMARY: OBJECTIVES: Investigate development and use of a cannabis growth simulation model as a tool to aid with cannabiis detection. Define hyperspectral reflectance signatures of cannabis for dection of illicit cannabis cultivation. APPROACH: We will attempt to adapt and existing growth model for another crop to simulate cannabis production. Measurements will be taken under controlled environmental settings to develop coefficients for the fundamental relationships. We will determine spectral features of cannabis suitable for use with airborne remote sensing system. [FONT=arial, helvetica] CRIS NUMBER: 0404429 SUBFILE: CRIS

4. What were the most significant accomplishments this past year? This project is a reimbursable agreement with the Office of National Drug Control Policy with oversight by the National Guard Counter Drug Office to provide assistance in the completion of the objectives associated with the parent project CRIS 1265-12660-005-00D titled Spectral and Spatial Measurements and Modeling to Improve Nutrient Management and Environmental Quality. The project seeks to develop remote sensing technologies and a plant growth simulation model for detecting illegal marijuana cultivation. The Hydrology and Remote Sensing Lab conducted investigations of marijuana leaf spectral reflectance and showed that its unique blue-green reflectance reported by law enforcement aerial spotters is the result of green reflectance from internal chlorophyll-bearing leaf cells plus a blue specular reflectance from microscopic structures on the surface of the leaf. Further investigation of the specular feature showed that while it is not unique to marijuana, it is also not present in all plants and can therefore be used as another vector to add to hyperspectral nadir data for spectral discrimination of marijuana. Image texture analysis was explored as another approach to using remote sensing data to detect illegal marijuana cultivation. Analysis of close-up, hand- held digital images of marijuana and naturally-occurring plants showed that marijuana plant architecture has distinctive image texture attributes that can be quantified using several pattern recognition approaches. Development continued on a marijuana growth model being developed to help law enforcement officers track marijuana phenology and better time interdiction. Further measurements and modeling of marijuana plant architecture using L-systems were done. A short video illustrating plant growth output by the model was produced. These activities will lead to technologies that will assist law enforcement agencies in all 50 states with the detection and eradication of illegal marijuana cultivation.

i have heard ghetto birds flying around and they use a special light because the leaves light up with this light they use, as far as it being true i don't know for sure, fuck it go with it
Ive seen on tv that they can use a heat sensor on a heli and they can spot indoor grow houses. like a certain spot of the house (grow room) would be red/orange because of the heat. not sure if that's true or not. but i don't think they would do that unless your under suspicion.. and probably not as common in a suburban area. but im about to start growing outside and there's always the life flight helicopter that fly's over my house a couple times a month to get to the hospital so now you got me all paranoid.

"[FONT=arial, helvetica] These activities will lead to technologies that will assist law enforcement agencies in all 50 states with the detection and eradication of illegal marijuana cultivation."

That would indicate it is not yet developed for a marijuana specific use. To further prove my point I would ask you to show me any evidence of use of spectral analysis in a marijuana bust.

What little I think I know on this subject is gleaned from dozens of conversations with people of varying degrees of knowledge and information. All I'm certain of is that the technology exists but might be too expensive for general use.

What I'd planned to add on the topic of spectral analysis earlier but was too drunk... was that it's technology that the military uses (read EXPENSIVE) to track enemy troop movement. It was designed so they could see through foliage and see what troops, supplies, vehicles, weapons, etc were under natural cover. Here's an excerpt:

Hyperspectral Optical Technology is a sensor system which detects hundreds of "spectra" or measurements of reflected or emitted energy. Scanning many channels across a narrow bandwidth, the sensor system is able to provide detailed information on about target's spatial and spectral patterns. The system works by breaking the optical spectrum into as many as 30 unique colours at a rate of 30 times per second. The sensor quantifies the spectra energy in each image and than builds a filter which is "tuned" to the specific target. For specifically marijuana further processing is needed, but from an elevation of 5,000 feet or in horizontal position several hundred yards this sensor is able to detect marijuana. Even through heavy vegetation, it is able to differentiate between recreational cannabis and industrial cannabis, due to specific objects and substances having unique "spectral signatures". Natural, man-made objects, different vegetation and even various types of building material can be detected. In a high elevation it is able detect chemical or biological weapons, run bomb damage assessment of underground structures, and foliage penetration to detect troops and vehicles movement.

Take that with a grain of salt as it is written by a person off woyano. Basically that only confirms that it's pretty specialized technology that's CAPABLE of marijuana detection. I still question it's ability to differentiate between "recreational cannabis and industrial cannabis." It sounds like a lot more work towards refining this technology for marijuana specific use is still required. And with the war on drugs dying a little more each day in this economy, I don't really see it being a legitimate threat.

Any one care to comment on what they think the difference between recreational cannabis and industrial cannabis is? I was under the impression those terms applied more to how many plants were growing that the type of plant. Sounds like a spin put on it by someone who doesn't really know what's going on. Kind of like on "Should I Smoke Dope?" where the narrator refers to growers growing a new kind of super weed called Skunk. She claimed that it was so strong it could bring on borderline schizophrenia and that all the heavy hitters were growing this Skunk. Kind of got the impression she learned a strain name and was just running with it

I lived in a rural state and planted them in a city park. One day, two went missing. Could have been deer, could have been cops, either way we lost 2 plants.

I live in NC and the police department in my area has stated that they are focusing more on indoor grows. They "think" everyone's gone indoors with this stuff and they have greatly reduced efforts to find outdoor grows. Either way, I don't give a SHIT. I'm a 29 yr old cancer patient and I'm growing a few marijuana plants, because I need it. I don't have the money to be buying from dealers. If they want to arrest me for growing some plants that improve my life, then F them. I am not paranoid or worried one f'king bit. I KNOW I'm going to do it, there's no "thinking" myself out of it, so why worry. I have a GREAT spot and I'm only planning on a few plants (I can't handle more than that). Just find a good spot and tell NOBODY (unless its on a message board and the people don't know who you are lol). Telling nobody is the #1 rule though. Don't get cocky about your grow and start mouthing off about it. Nothing good will come from it.

For you, yes. Don't tell anyone.

However for someone who is planning on making a little profit off of their time it may be best to let a few people know in a strictly business sense. If you let people know that you're growing the big thing is not telling them where you're growing.

I don't know if it's human nature or what but there's something inside me that wants to show others my grow. That's the beauty of this site, it satisfies the need to show off your grow, without doing it to people that can come back and take your grow, or tell others about it.

I'm a prop 215 medical patient from Ca with a prescription for 25 plants. Last September I had a Helicopter doing circles above my garden with a guy standing in the sliding door pointing to my garden. Oh FUCK I thought! They did about 6-7 laps just above the trees over the garden, but my permit to grow was posted in a spot where they could see it. I thought to myself, here we go, lets see if I get a visit......nothing. I'm sure they took photos and made some notes, but never a visit. Knock on wood. I know I'm good legally, but who wants to go through the bullshit and to be exposed like that to your community, not me.
My thoughts on 10 plants is go for it, just don't plant them in any kind of pattern. Spread them out, 1 here, 1 there, couple over there, you know, be smart. Many helicopters look for buried water lines using inferred.
Good Luck-

ir cameras can not see through glass. all glass will show the same color. so.... encasing your grow in glass is the only deterrent i know of.

p.s. dont throw rocks

ok they say copchoppers use infrared cameras to detect heat they say mj plants put off heat but idk they say if u buy fake flowers or christmas ornaments

I was thinking the same, Stay Safe out there.
They have too much other things to worry about unless the
highlight of your city's PD would be a 1-10 plant bust then I'd be taking EVERY precaution.
