Butane is going to kill you guys!

So Meta I've read through this being a regular old joint smoker for +25yrs. I have no dog in this fight whatsoever,been thinking of this stuff recently and butane was placed last as an option just sounds shitty tasting. Idk never tried it to my knowledge. This thread has inspired one and only one question from me. What is the inevitably created chemicals identity in the canning process? W/O this info your a douchebag that will die BHO or not like the rest.

What does that have to do with anything? Sorry, but Ice Water Hash does NOT compare to BHO. I've gotten it straight from Matt Rize himself at CCA and it just doesn't melt right, taste as good, OR have as good of an effect as properly made bho. Also, OP, have you seen the lab results on bho? The ppm are WAY below acceptable levels, I know some people don't trust lab results but if you trust em for thc content/etc.. then BHO has already been proven to have the potential to have very little residual solvents left.

What exactly is the poison of which you speak?

How exactly does putting the butane in a pressurized can add toxins?

Why are these toxins not showing up on a Gas Chromatograph, and how should we be testing for them?

Do you have supporting data that you might share, so that the rest of us can put this in perspective, given that it flies in the face of presently accepted scientific data?

Without the supporting data, your input seems biased and misinformed. It would be helpful if you could clear up the disparities.

I remembered my encounter with BHO it consisted of some "HIPPIES" taking a bunch of my garbage placing it in capped pvc,butane,pyrex pan and a mess I passed on trying. These "Hippies" also yielded about a half lb of grade -d with 40 plants and 3500 watts and stole all my tools. I'm assuming the bastardised version was doomed by It's brainless creators. I'd like to try this dabbing is the alcohol method equal or even similar. Where's the sticky splaining this stuff I was finally on board for ice bags now this.

Lemme see! Gmo or bho? I would rather smoke butane than eat genetically modified food! Does this equate, considering the lack of statistical evidence from the two?

I don't know anything about this at all. I've never smoked hash or oil, and only recently started smoking pot. Let me just say, I love it and don't know why I waited so long to get into it. Now I'm like a middle aged teenager ;)


I've been looking into hash/oil/canabutter as a way of using my trim etc. I'm not sure about BHO mostly because it uses butane and I don't know the chemistry behind what happens in the process.


I would like to know more about peoples experience with ethanol as a solvent. I have lots of experience making high proof ethanol (if anyone wants more info on stills: http://homedistiller.org/). I can get, at best, 92% out of my still (184 proof), but only about 200 ml per run will be at that level. Out of the entire run,with proper cuts, it tends to be in the 75% (150 proof) range. It'snot possible to make "pure" ethanol even in a lab. I can't imagine I would need stronger than 150 proof anyway. What do you folks use? How would you compare oil to ice water hash?


I would add that if you are going to distill ethanol, please read up on it. A still can be a dangerous thing to run so please make sure you know what you are doing before you try. Don't burn your house down or hurt yourself =)


Warning: don't just buy and run vodka through a still; you need to water it down first. Running 80 proof through a still is dangerous and you can get higher proofs by watering it down first anyway (about 10% is good, never over 20%) and running slowly.

Then tell me -- WHY is it I can smell & taste butane if I use a butane lighter with my Vaporizer?
It is not ALL combusted and I am sure the N-Butane is not the only harmful chemical IN it-- as YOU pointed out!
So WHy is it so bad to use it making "oil" but OK for you to fire-up with it? When people light the oil- it's the same damned thing...

and don't come in here talking to everyone as if no one understands what it is to work with or BE a cancer patient-- that we are all just the steriotypical dumb-ass dope heads trying to get a buzz anyway we can regardless of the long-term results.

You want to preach-- go to the front of the local ER. or Pharmacy and bitch at them about the Percocet, Darvon, Codeine, etc,.. they've gotten so many of our parents/patients/loved-ones addicted to.... substances that WE have to get them off-of and try to get them off of those chemicals and try our concentrates to alleviate their pain.

n butane in bic lighters? sounds kinda not feasible. and I bet you any amount of money as someone said earlier any butane possibly left in the oil/wax when it hits a red hot nail the byproduct is h20 and co2. it's this mystery chemical that I'm still wondering about.
 
Butane is organically friendly and NON-TOXIC. This solvent has been used in the food industry for decades because it is one of the easiest solvents to cleanly evaporate away, leaving no trace and does not react with the food products being extracted. You may not be aware that butane is the propellant used in cooking oil spray canisters. Why not, it is safe, non-toxic, evaporates completely and dissolves the oil readily so it can be sprayed out of the low pressure canister and it provides the pressure to do so. Butane is used as an artificial anti-oxidant that they put it in chicken nuggets to keep them “fresh” tasting. So instead of your chicken nuggets being fresh, Butane keeps them “fresh." Butane is also found in frozen, packaged or pre-made processed foods with long shelf lives such as frozen meals, crackers, chips, cereal bars and fast food.

We extract several different ways, including with 190 proof ethanol. We do so on frozen dried material, and I don't recommend using less than 95% ethanol, because the water will wash away the water soluble chlorophyll binding proteins, exposing more of the chlorophyll to the alcohol.
 
The chemical poison of which he speaks is Killoxin. Killoxin is a synthetic toxin which is odourless, tasteless and cannot be detected with gas chromatagraph or any other scientific equipment. It is produced by any process which involves technology more advanced than wood, stone or ISO. Symptoms of poisioning range from death to posting things online which make no logical sense. Your phone for example has residual killoxin as does your computer and keyboard. Over a period of 60 to 80 years exposure to killoxin can cause wrinkles, skin blemishes, and pre-mature aging. Killoxin can be produced by any weed extraction process that doesn't natural ingredients. For example, bubble bags, being made in a factory from chemicals can give off killoxin. The only safe method is to use ISO because this material is absolutely pure having come from deep underground and never having touched a factory or other technology other than being bottled by elves.
