Yellowstone is anything but dormant; geysers, hot springs, mud pots and the like abound, as does measured evidence of the swelling of the ground itself.
No, lots of volcanoes do their thing once and then never again.

Problem with that; if you cool off the lake of magna, the gases won't stay in solution. Same with reducing pressure.

I remember being at Yellowstone in 1963 on family vacation, standing beside a scenic lake.
A metal plaque said 'this lake was formed by the 1959 earthquake'.

I visited Yellowstone in 1964 and then again in 1979 and the pools looked totally different, lots of pukey brown algae where there was blue and green before

If there was a way to reduce the pressure without causing the gases dissolved into the magma to come out of solution it would generate all the energy this country would need for the foreseeable future.

Such a cataclysmic event could change the course of humanity. Maybe not the worst thing to change.
I think it's more likely that something in the Cascade range will pop off in the foreseeable future. If I were to wager it would be Mt Rainier and that would make an interesting mess for the community's of the Puget Sound.
