WHY CAN NO ONE JUST READ A FUCKING POST! For Christs Sake! Im sick of that today. NOWHERE, in my entire post, did I say anything about not wanting to be alive while alive and in pain. My post still stands, because you twisted your response in a way that doesn't reflect what you're responding to.

Is far more harm. Not saying it's not worth living.
Cool, cool.

Not sure what your point is, do you think the tests are unreliable because they're performed on crash test dummies and not on humans?

The verb "could" automatically assumes uncertainty friend.
I'm directly implying the test is innately flawed because it wasn't a true test. lol COMPLETELY different than the real thing.

Thank you for answering a question that didn't have anything to do with you. :) Hats off! :D

Any test they run, will be considered "untrue" even if used with a "real" human being.
Because we all react differently in high-pressured situations, like car-accidents.
Therefore the results of the accident will ALWAYS be different, therefore the use of a dummy over a live-person is not only pointless, but mute.

Watch "The Deadliest Warrior" - aside from the shows aspect, look at the technology used.
The "dummies" used/ran in these tests today aren't the SAME dummies from 1995.
They actually have bones that break, sensors that show speed, collision times, impact, pressure, blood loss, etc.
I'd say they're pretty damned accurate.

[edit]
I'm off this thread, so ... have fun continuing the debate dudes. Which, isn't much of a debate lol.

How were the hundreds of thousands of crash tests performed for over half a century 'innately flawed'?

Like I said, ignorance is ignorance, whether it's directed at me or not. :D

Yes, you may ask. I was driving my husband's Cadillac Fleetwood (big, big car) back in 1989, I should have been driving my Dodge Daytona (little car). I was hit head on by a drunk driver at speed with no sign of braking by him. The engine of the Cadillac ended up in the firewall of the Caddie, the dashboard warped and dropped down on my legs, the roof of the car buckled and the doors jammed. I swear I watched the windshield crack up in slow motion. The pickup truck that hit me it's motor ended up in it's passenger compartment with the firewall sheet metal wrapped around it. I did hit my head on something but what I don't know what everything was flying around.

I was told that with the speed of the impact that if I had been in my little car I would have been dead or crippled and I believe it. I wear a safety belt because I believe it save my life.

Do I really have to ask how you know for certain that it could have been much worse and that you would have lost your life without the belt?

Your response was as if I had asked a completely different question. LMFAO.

Just dont wear it.

Dont be so "girthy".

Dont drive.

Ride in the back seat.

Use a taxi.

Walk.

Bike.

Use the bus.

Use the subway(if applicable).

Stay home.

Exercise.

Eat better.

There just suggestions

And yes, i think it is a good law that should be enforced. It might save your life one day.

I wear it when i have to, im cool with it

this law really bothers me. not because i'm anti-seatbelt but because my seat belt does not fit properly. i'm a girthy individual and when i wear my seat belt sometimes it cuts into my neck or accross the bottom of my face, and i'm constantly adjusting it. it just seems very short sighted to force everyone to wear the things if there's no regulations on how they fit. isn't it plausible that an improperly fitting seat belt could cause more damage than not wearing one? every car i enter is different, and even the adjustable ones don't always fit right. i'm supposed to give you money for that?

i also believe that i should have the right as a free individual to choose whether or not to wear the thing. maybe i don't want to wrinkle my shirt before a job interview. maybe i have a rash and it chafes. maybe i don't like the smell of the thing. why is it anyone else's business?

So what? You wanted a response and I gave you one. How does one know for certain about anything. Stupid question if you ask me.
Stupid is as stupid does. It was a simple question. So what? You couldn't answer a simple 'how'?

It was borderline rhetorical. You can't say that it's a fact if you DONT know...

In the words of our almighty Cannabineer,

It's an opinion, my sarcasm was taken poorly and people set out to prove their opinion as fact. :D

It's not 'true' that seat belts are safer, it's your personal opinion. :) So good luck forcing your opinion on me. ;)

I didnt read all this but, I think if an individual wants to die, let them, I choose not to wear one, because i itll do more damage to me, like if in a little crash youll still end up with shitty ass rashes along your chest.
I dont even imagine a big crash with one of those one. ive seen people with the bruises and damn it looks like it hurts.
I can see where it can save you, I know a lady who got in a wreck and she was throw out the window if she was wearing her seat belt she would have been crashed by the car.

Its all opinion.

It's a scientific, testable, measurable fact that wearing a seatbelt is safer than not if you get into a car accident. I'm not sure why you think it's simply an opinion but that isn't the case. Would you like me to provide you with some data?

Will it prove as much as all the other data stated in this thread? :D

Well i've been in a car accident, lady in front of me decided to slam on the brakes while doing 80km/h in rush hour traffic, ya i slammed on my brakes and slammed into her rear end, opened my eyes and saw my car totaled , air bags did not deploy since my car did a nose dive and the front bumper went under the Jeeps rear bumper, i hit the spare tire lmfao Engine and trany were chrushed and pushed into my firewall, windshield did not shatter , but i feel that if i had not been wearing my eat belt properly or at all i probably would have ate my steering wheel instead i only had a few bruises. LMfao funny part was the first thing i did after the initial accident was find my weed lol

i see the "yes you should be ticketed" group falls into 2 categories:
a. the first believes that it's the government's role to "save my life"
b. the other believes that since accidents cost money it is acceptable to fine people.

to group a, my question is whether or not i should be forced to wear a kevlar vest in the ghetto. and if i don't, and get shot, is that "my own fault" and subject to a fine?

to group b, i already covered the extensive fines i recieve just by running a red light. fines that go toward road accidents and are built into the base of my ticket before the actual violation is added. so basically i already paid for that shit. why is it i should be fined on top of that for money that goes into the same fund? and if i am a "safe driver" who never had an accident or ticket, why should i be lumped in with people who contribute to unsafe driving conditions?

just to clarify, i do wear the stupid thing about 60% of the time, and for the most part i believe that i'm probably better off with it on (although there are exceptions). my beef is with the government telling me what's best for me and double charging me for the same offense.
