clones, 3 weeks, 2 methods, no roots

Hey guys,

At first i had 8 clones in rockwool cubes for 2 weeks dipping the corners twice daily in ph adjusted water, with a heat pad underneath, my problem was using my hard tap water and mineral buildup occurred. The temperature has fluctuated between 70 and 77. I am using fluros about 3 inches away from the top of the plants.

5 clones are still alive and i switched over to rapid rooters w/ the dome last week. I re-cut the clones, re-dipped them in rooting powder, but still have had no luck w/ roots at the bottom. I have been feeding them distilled water ph balanced to 5.6. I have a 1/4 inch on water in the bottom of the 2nd tray and have been spraying the dome 2x daily.

Now the plants I have are in 6 and 4 weeks of flowering and I think its a bit late to take clones off them... What I was thinking is when its harvest time ill flush the plants and then clip the flowers off, and attempt cloning again, hoping to save the strand that I don't have any seeds of.

What do you recommend in my situation? Scrap the clones or keep em going? I have 6 blue rhino seeds left that I am thinking about germinating instead of going on w/ the clone project. Once the new plants are sexed ill keep the fem in veg stage and try the clones again.

Any feedback is welcome guys!

Sounds like your doing everything right. What are your methods for getting them, how many nodes do you leave on the clone? Where do you make your initial cut? Do you do your final cut under water? I liberally use Rootech cloning gel and scrape the ends of the cuttings, as well as splitting the ends. You do not need to flush any plants before taking cuttings. I don't really think you need to spray em either. Perhaps just pull the light away a bit and take dome off might help. Perhaps your particular mother just does not genetically take to cloning well.

It wont hurt to wait and see. I would attempt a clone or two from the bottom and hope 24hrs light brings it back into veg? It worked for me once when I had the same prob with my last Bubba Kush plant and was shitting my pants! Thank the lord it worked and its still hear after two years. Hope it works for you! Peace Out!

I took the cuttings from the bottom half of the mother plant. I cut them w/ an exactoknife at a 45 degree angle after the 3rd node. I gently pulled off the 3rd set of leaves and and cut there. I then split the end w/ the knife and agitated the sides w/ the knife as well.

The light is two fluro tubes. The clones are two different strands, one bagseed, which is the strand i want to clone and the other is blue rhino (blueberryxwhite widowxafghan).

So should i attempt more clones now or wait til after harvesting? I have the clones under 24/0 light currently and have had no luck.

I think ill try a bubble cloner next, as i am going dwc for my first hydro grow, the moms are in soil right now.

you could try getting more clones look at the bottom of the plant if there are some small branches that have none or very little bud use those

so after 5 weeks and 2 methods, I was finally fed up w/ my 1st attempt at cloning. I open up the rapid rooter dome and start removing the cuttings. I remove the 2 bagseed attempts which were on their way to death. I then proceed to start removing the 3 blue rhino cuttings. As I pull up the freshest, healthiest looking cutting, I see ROOTS!!!! good sized roots that were out of the rapid rooters and into the base of water below!

Tonight was a fantastic night, no mccain as pres, my celtics beat the rockets and I can officially start my 1st DWC hydro grow tomorrow.

I will be using a 10 gallon rubbermaid w/ 2 airstones and maxigrow, maxibloom and koolbloom nutes via highlife's DIY.

I am presoaking the hydroton in ph balanced water as we speak and will be setting up my 400w MH tomorrow after my midterm.

What a tuesday!
