Comment on my CFL Flowers

Good looking grow! I'm glad to see that your planst look so healthy under CFL :) I would like to suggest that you find a way to better reflect the light, as CFL growing requires top-notch reflection if you want those buds to really fatten up. I use a lot of 23w bulbs (both 2500k and 6500k) because they are supposedly the most efficient of the sizes that are available without special order.
If interested, here is a pic of my latest CFL grow at 3 weeks into Flowering. IMG_7058.jpg the difference may seem shocking, but with the right care, I believe any intelligent grower can yield HID quality from CFL. Great job and keep it up!

I just finished cutting the holes in the bucket. And mounting the fan.

Well, ok, my hubby did most of the work.. But I drew the dots on the bucket! and traced the fan!

I mixed 5 cups water and 1/4 ONA and then added a half cup of soil moist. Just waiting for it to fully expand to see if I need to add more.

It started expanding pretty quick! Soil Moist is awesome!

my buddy and I used to use the soilmoist in our guerilla grows. pretty good stuff considering we only visited our plants once a week. did the job as far as holding and releasing moisture


nothing to do with ona gel but ya lol that's my story

Well that is it's original purpose. To hold moisture near the roots of plants and to hold alot of it for a long time.

For the negligent growers out there I imagine. lol

Day 73 - 12/12 Day 49 (week 7)

I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but the pistils are slowly turning light orange. She is now week 7 of 12/12. I feel she still has 2 weeks left.

Here is my ona bucket. It pretty much eliminated the skunk smell upstairs while the soil moist was expanding. I put it downstairs and turned on the fan and within 2 min all I could smell was linen.

I didn't have to use tape or cardboard. We got the fan to sit in the hole nice and snug.

The real test will be when I come home from a party tomorrow. Walking in that front door and not smelling skunk ass will be wonderful!

Day 74 - 12/12 Day 50

I decided to start watering every 2 days. 1/2 tsp still.

The smell test was SORTA a success. This morning, the smell was almost gone. But coming back from the party the smell was back. No where near as strong as before.

I think it is because I had the bucket hooked up to the light timer. So the smell gradually built back up during the lights off period.

I am gonna try having her on 24/7 and see if that makes a difference. I could smell her a bit walking in the front door but the grow room downstairs didn't smell like her. So we shall see what happens tomorrow.

Am thinking it was due to the light timer, yes - if the bucket runs 24/7, there should be no issue :D

It got rid of the smell in the rest of the basement. The two days before the ona bucket, the whole basement reaked. Not just the little furnace room.

So yeah.. I think with the bucket off and her respirating the smell was allowed to get upstairs through the heat.

As long as you're ok with the initial result with it being on timer, you should be ecstatic with what it does on 24/7 :D

Oh and btw, I don't know if yall remember, but about 2 months ago I was complaining about being "allergic" to my plants.

Every couple times I went down to check on my plants and lift the lights my arms would be itchy.

At first I thought it was the cats I was allergic to.

Then I thought it was the cfl's or the plant itself irritating my skin.



I finally figured out what it was. The opening in my cabinet is not finished on the edges. It is just particle board that I cut a hole in. I was scraping my arms against it every time I adjusted the lights. Not enough to notice right away, but enough to scrape it a bit and make it itchy.

So no, I am not allergic to weed. THANK GOD!

Great to hear, have never heard of someone allergic to weed or the components it has at all, would definitely be a rare one if you were.

Will do. I will do prob two more smell updates. And I have some factors I can tweak if I need to. (holes, fan speed, more ona etc)
