Compacted soil problems showing as over watering?

Hi guys so…. I made a mistake
I had a lot going on and planted my seeding straight into the old soil from the last grow, and just topped it up what was lost from removing the last crop..
I know stupid!
Right so everything was actually going alright
As they grow they started showing some yellowing and stunted growth,
I then decided to do a flush thinking it was a Salt build up from the last grow, it actually looked like it bounced back and then not long after one started drooping
I thought overwatering ?
it got worse and worse and no some others are starting to wilt And stunt,
I had enough of battling thinking I mite have over watered and got root rot.. so I took the worst plant out the fabric pot and pulled it all apart to look for rot.. there was non!! I’m thinking all the problems mite be because the soil was so compact from the last grow??

min thinking about repotting the lot in new soil?

It will adapt and recover
Stop messing with it and wait
I let the soils dry out completely then started watering again in very small amounts andtreated it like it was over watering then other plants started showing the same problems,
It’s been over two weeks with so sign of improvement

can only be compacted soil but I have no experience with it

You're not going to get compaction from one cycle in peat and petite. Folks do no-till (as in cut old plant out, stick new one in the same spot) in that kind of medium for multiple grows.

If you let it dry out too much and didn't re-hydrate before transplanting, it could be that the medium got hydrophobic and it's not absorbing water properly/evenly anymore.

Thanks for your reply how would I combat this? It’s been in the final container long before this happened, but I’m open to options to see what works
