Nope, I just tease the sides and bottom of the rootball to loosen it up a good bit (as much as I can without destroying it) and then stuff it down into the new pot. Then I just backfill in around the edges of the pot with the new soil and pack it medium tight. Done.
Both plants that I re-potted the other day are looking fabulous. I even tore the rootball up into dangly sections on the SS purposely trying to give it hell and really break it up good. It's just loving life now too. Cannabis plants really are quite resilient. It's just things like heat stress, over/under watering, nute burn, nute deficiencies, improper Ph, windburn, and worst of all fluctuating photoperiods that really gives them a problem. Other than that I find that cannabis will take pretty much anything thrown at it and keep coming back for more. They're not that hard to grow at all, as long as you don't mess up on the important things.
