Little bird told me that any changes to Dans business was Dans decision and they didn't even tell HLG of the change, so much for the fool in the tinfoil hat with the anger issues.
Let dan say that and you can get personal about me blaming hlg for it.
But that’s as far as you clowns get - that hlg did/didn’t solely/partly force dan’s exit.
When it comes to the fixture itself, Dan’s offering & pricing beats hlg’s hands down!
Major loss to those of us who don’t want to diy, and a large, expanding and potentially most profitable market segment as legalization proceeds. For whatever reason he exited, a big opportunity and benefit has been lost with US & Canadian (if trump doesn’t fuck it up) legalization occuring.
I’ll be interested to see if hlg can get its shit together on the fixture side, and add more price and performance to compete with diy and other evolving growlight segments & sources. That part of their business (the one i have been commenting on) is a fuckin joke. And, we are now in an investment environment that is no longer mom & pop diy (the likes of constellation and coke are now publicly backing canadian cannabis).
I sincerely hope they figure it out, or they will be just another oem to more innovative fixture makers and the diy crowd. Perhaps Samsung, LG, and other diode makers even cut them out of the biz entirely.
One of their pathways could have been (might still be) to partner with a company(s) like dan’s.
