Think about your own argument for a moment. You are saying that people differ in their ability to safely drive at .08%.i notice you said "The fact is most people drive just fine at .08% BAC"
now answer this what about the rest of the people who are not just fine at .08%?
just because you feel fine driving with a couple of beers in you doesnt mean the next person can do the same. anyone who drives inebriated is a real danger to others on the road so instaed of blaming the government for these limits try blaming the muppets who drive when drunk for causing this
oh and i have had 2 dui's had 4 years of my driving life taken away thru bans and another 2 years of non driving due to sky high insurance prices. neither time i was arrested was crash or poor driving related yet i still dont feel bitter about getting caught as i know it was wrong for me to do and there were many other times when i did drive in such a state as to be dangerous and wasnt caught.
its fucking easy for any responsible adult to not drive drunk

I therefore ask you, should the people who can drive fine be punished because others can not? Is this your understanding of fairness?
To those saying just don't drive - that is kind of silly because not everyone can afford to shell out $75 for a cab home. And there is no reason they should have to. The only way to ensure that nothing bad will ever happen to you is if you lock your self in your house and unplug all your appliances every night.
But I don't want to get off track. The reality is that Americans drink and that .08% is a ridiculous one size fits all standard. It is ridiculous for a lot of reasons. You can read about this in the link I provided in the OP.
What you do not want to do is believe a bunch of lies designed to get you to unwittingly surrender your own liberty. This is a lot like the Government convincing a bunch of people that freedom of speech is bad and should be over turned.
And BTW, having ANY THC IN YOUR SYSTEM means you are DUI. And THC stays in your system up to 30 days. So if you want to take a hard line against DUIs, make sure you don't drive for 30 days after smoking a joint. That is the law and you can't have it both ways.
