I wouldn't go over about 0.5 ml per gallon. The literature says they renewed the dose when foaming was visibly diminished, which was 2-3 weeks. I recently redosed at about 2 weeks.

I've been researching this surfactant thing further, and found this article about the effects on plant growth: http://www.plantphysiol.org/content/39/3/502.full.pdf It seems that a limited amount of the right surfactant does actually enhance plant growth. It does seem to retard root growth in young plants though. Retarded roots are better than dead ones; if that's what it comes to.

As with most AN products, they keep the actual ingredients a secret. That right there is enough to prevent me from buying it again, but it got me through while I could do more research. I bought a jug of Activator 90, but haven't started using it yet. It would be equivalent to a blend of Tween and Cerfak 1400 as referenced in the article. 0.44 ml per gallon of this stuff results in the 0.01% v/v dose recommended, at 90% product strength. The label on the wet Betty says it contains 1.25% surfactant, suggesting that it may be able to be dosed at about 75 times that strength, but I have no idea what's in it, so I don't want to risk it. I've been running it at 0.5 ml/ gal, and it has good effect on the pathogens.

I've been looking for research on the effect of nonionic surfactants on beneficial microbes, but am yet to find anything very relevant.

Grow well,

Yo I made this tea very similar to this except used ancient forest and great white instead of ZHO, Im having insane PH fluctuations in my ebb and gro Like it goes from 5.5 to 6.5 in 1 day wondering if thats normal when using the tea. I had the brown slime in my rez that nothing would take care of slime I tried everything and I think I got it because I had taken plants out of soil and just washed the roots off but I think I left too much soil at the very top. I tried everything like zone, bleach and cleaning everything and then this last time I used physan 20 at 1ml/10gal. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

I notice there light leak. will that cause the problem? I been brewing tea for couple month now and this never happen to me. I brew with 4 gal ro water. 1 scoop of zho and great white. 60 ml aqua shield, 4 cup acient forest, 1 1/2 tablespoon molasses. I have a 60w air pump in a 5 gal bucket. I did something different this time. I added about 4 cup of hydroton in a panty socks and brew with it. Im going to soak it in water and h2o2. hope this work. Thanks

So I've only started having to deal with this root slime into the 3rd week of flowering, and only on 4 of my plants with smaller root systems. On the plants with bigger root systems, I have noticed there's not been very much root growth, and some of the roots have been dying off, but the buds have still been growing nicely on those ones. I have just added some of the tea earlier tonight, so I'm going to see how that fares with them all. I'm using Earth Juice Sugar Peak flowering Nutrient though (one of EJ's lines meant for hydro, not clumpy like the original), so we'll see how it fares with the organic nutrients with molasses in them. Does this slime normally affect plants in flower like this? Because I had 0 problems when they were vegging, even the smaller ones.

my last grow(my first) was fraught with slime problems that i really only beat in the last week- yield was weak. 2 weeks ago i started with new clones, cleaned EVERYTHING first with h2o2, then bleach-new airstones and lines. first weak just had water and aussitonic in the tub, week 2 added tea, let sit for 12 hours, added aussi tonic, 1/2 strength an sensi a and sensi b, carboload. within a few days there were minor signs of something happening- slight white foam around airlines. added more tea- no actual slime but residue on bottom of res? i am changing nutes today- went out and bought green planets take it and grow kit- any other ideas?

Yah keep it simple! Drop the carbo load! And brew the tea as the resipe says and all will be good :)

The only main problem with this system r Root rot. stay away from advance nutes. SuperNatural aqua with tea work like magic, FINALLY!!!!...frosty white root!

thanks much, i am currently trying out the green planet, as the take it and grow package was a great deal- $50 for 1 of everything, i still have some slime but i have the white foam which seems to be the tea kicking ass- hopefully it will do the trick, and i will try SuperNatural

the heisenberg tea has been the only thing that keeps the slime at bay, but it is a continuing battle- is their any reason not to add h202 or clean slate 12 hours before a nute change, and after the last drip feed, so it is only in the res, not the rockwool. i am thinking a mass kill once a week might help things out.

Adding h202 does not kill 100% of the bactitia, so its not a clean slate.
if h202 was a win all everybody would use it!

i drain water out of the res during res change and wash out the res with soap!
cleaning everything then rinsing all the soap out. Add nutes and new batch of
tea and all is good.

Great thread!! I have read most of it and some parts more than once. Do I understand this right? When running the tea, there is no need to run a carb or a zyme product. I have read where these products can make a problem worse. But I have no problem, but really like the tea idea to prevent. Thank you all a million.

After reading a few other forums, I know there is no need to add carbs to rez. Good forum about that here.
https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/103323-brix-levels-its-relevance-cannabis.html

I am still not sure if adding an enzyme product to either the tea or the Rez itself is a good idea or not.
