DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

hey heisenberg,
if you wanted to use ZHO in res or clone water how much do you use per gallon? they say its ok for hydro but dont give an application rate for it. thanks for all the help with the fungus gnat problem i used all your advice, mosquito dunks, sticky traps, sand layer for soil plants, and diatomaceous earth on top of sand. decided to use gognats on walls of grow room as repellent since that is all its good for. sprayed medium and net cups with fresh tea. only seen one since. thanks you've been alot of help.

update: i changed water today. i only used house and garden a&b and a small amount of hydroplex from botanicare brought it to about 500ppm. put in a little aquashield and zho until my tea is ready tomorrow morning... the girls looked good in the dark without checking the roots.

Well, here we are again...

So aside from having the worst 4/20 ever I looked at my plant today and noticed she was saggin' a bit. I figured I would take a look under the hood to see what was up. sigh... foam, pH above 8.3, and brown slime everywhere!

It really is quite amazing. I mean just last night everything was superb. Rapid new growth. PH had been stable at 5.8 for a week. Lots of new roots. And somehow in about 18 hours everything it seems went horribly horribly wrong.

I am tired of fighting this. I don't know what it is or what the cure is (if there is one). All I know is that I have tried everything under the fuckin sun to clean up my res, yet this shit comes back stronger and stronger every time.

In my last ditch effort I am leaching in 3 gal tap water with 3mL bleach and 45mL H2O2. If she dies, so be it. She certainly wasn't going to make it through battling the slime. If she is alive on Monday I will add nutes, bleach, and more h2o2. If by next Friday she doesn't show improvement. This journal will be closed.

Happy 4/20
Physan 20????

Doesnt sound like you tried everything.

Sounds good. Keep us posted on how everything shakes out. Started a DWC bucket with a GDP clone the other day. Running H&G AF A/B, Drip Clean, and the Roots Excel. Gonna hold off on the multi zen and algen extract for a few weeks.

last time i ran great white and made a tea of ewc, molases and GW beenie powder, just for preventative measures!

im wondering this time could i just use a soluble version and pour direct onto clayballs dwon to rootmass then recirculated and repeat once a week and get same results?

if so can any1 suggest such a product or should i stick it out with the tea again??

update: a week in to flower and they really grew a lot over night actually i want them to stop growing. they are super healthy looking ppm is at 650 i want it more and so do they but im worried with the rot. the current situation on the rot is stagnant, about the same as a few days so think im winning the battle must continue. I fed em A&B without the multi zen. A little Hydroplex and some Tigerbloom and little calmag. what you think? I usually use b'cuzz bloom which i love but its organic :/

is it normal for the tea to smell sweet? also im using a small fish pump in a 5 gal bucket so its like a fountain would that make the tea be done a little sooner?

thanks thanks.

Update: looking good it's a rainforest in there. I'm learning dft is like perfect for root rot and your probly gonna get it you just HAVE to control it. But this is my 2nd round first time got to wiped out but the nugs I did get we're dank. It started from aphid damage and power problems where chillers were out and ac and room was 90 degree couple times. but that was last time, this time much better so far. Okay so when I make the tea.. I usually end up with stuff that doesn't smell unless you put your nose to it and it smells a tiny bit bad but not really? I use fish pump instead of air stones would the extra power do anything negative

I just started a batch of this tea for my first time to add to my little single bucket DWC experiment. I'm pretty excited about using it. I brew teas for my soil grown plants as well. I love this recipe for its simplicity.

Man I just put in black strap molasses as opposed to the normal molasses I usually buy from the grocery store and right away I noticed a huge difference with it start bubbling and stuff faster.
