DWC Scrog Throwdown Growdown 2011

Hey guys! I may be interested if it's not too late. We are thinking of attempting individual SCROGs on our buckets. Here's a pic of our WWs and a pic of the SCROG we r thinkin about. Our tent is only 3x3x5, I don't think my husband really wants to SCROG, but I'd like to attempt it what do yall think??

aw fuck!!! I JUST took cuttings off my outdoor plant cuz I got so many ppl flakin on me with the seeds so i decided to take some cuttings, I rubbed the leafs to get rid of any eggs even inspected it, had nothing. I brought it in and turned on the lights and I started to noticed little mini bug type things.. hope you guys dont mind if I post pics? its my temporary set up, the mother needed to be cut cuz I was gettin eager and also having clones would give me the extra push to actually move on with my grow set up.

yeah i know what you mean. its just that my prob TOTALLY related to what someone else said haha plus you guys might be of some assistance. also what size totes you all growin in for the DWC? I got mine but im startin to think its too small (18 gal res, 3.85 in baskets..(thought i ordered 5 in baskets..))

IMO I would use that tote to put some winter clothes or storage for something. Get yourself a cooler and you will not have to battle with high rez temps.
I used one like it for a couple weeks and my water would constantly rise to 74-78 in no time.
I switched out and got a cooler and my temps have been a constant 67-70 under a 400 w HPS. No frozen bottles or chillers.
High temps cause root rot and algae growth.
As far as water level goes. I use Rapid Rooters not Rockwool but for those I just keep enough water to keep them moist.
Not soaked but moist til you have roots then transplant into the DWC.

You could use that tote, but as Blu said, you should try to keep the temps around 65-70. Mine was (NOTHING GROWING AT THE MOMENT!!! NOT HAPPENED IN ABOUT 1.5 YEARS) around 72F but I'm starting to use very small plastic pitchers. Really you can grow in anything you want/have, can afford, etc. It's weed....it wants to grow. You can grow in a PC computer or an entire house. I've changed my setup about every grow I've had, if you can only use the tote, use it, otherwise a cooler would be a great idea. Sorry, I'm stoned.

Yeah my DWC is on an 18 gal. that tote was for something different lol (maybe packing winter clothes)
but yeah I was going to freeze the water bottles. But my planned set up a while back was an ebb n flow system but a drip system for another but with seperate resovoirs under a flood tray.

I just couldnt find a table that would match the size so I built the dwc setup.

Those clones were just their so it would FORCE me to use my coming up money on to finishing the set up.

for me, its better to start and rush, than to not start and procrastinate (causing a probability of not even growing at all for months to years)

Thing about frozen bottles is they bounce around in the rez and can damage the roots or they sit next to the roots and cause freeze damage to them.
Just my 2 cents but once you change from the tote to a cooler you won't use another tote.

My roots go all the way to the bottom so they would still be on them.
Put whatever you want to put in there or grow in what ya want to.
A cooler is far easier for me. No steady exchange of frozen bottles to worry about.
If you leave and forget to put one in then you have a hot rez.
Not gonna go back and forth about the issue. A cooler was a very simple fix for me with alot less of a headache.
No battling of temps. Period.
Go thru a couple weeks of switching out frozen bottles and having 3 of them in your freezer. Just so you always have one frozen.
Then use a cooler and say WTF was I thinking with that tote. Grow them in a shoe box for all I care.
I am simply stating what works fine for me and trying to help others out who are battling tote rez temps.
I used the totes and frozen bottles for about a month. Never again!!
But seriously, why would anyone choose to continue to use the totes and switch out frozen bottles when you can use a cheap cooler and never have to worry about a frozen bottle or rez temps..
Get a digital therm for the tote and watch those rez temps rise constantly..

Can't wait to see it once you get the leak issue fixed on the RDWC. Will be a bud producing machine. Lol!!
If you have been growing in a tote and switching to a cooler. You will see changes immediately in rez temps.
Adjust the temp to where you want them to be and leave it be.
