Dynagro is under-rated as fuck

Can I get some opinions. I know this is about Dyna-Gro, but it's also about how Dyna-Gro is the only nutrient line needed so I figured this question wouldn't be out of place.

I see many posts on how great Cha-Ching and Overdrive is. It usually goes along the lines of "man this produce really packs on the weight". But I've heard that the last few weeks of flowering is when the plants have a significant "explosion" of bud growth. Do you think these products are doing anything or is it just the plants natural growth?

If you work from clones then there is an easy way to find out..

Cha Ching 9-50-10
Overdrive 1-5-4

It's not what I would do, but, that doesn't mean much..
I found this nifty graph on overdrive... I wonder what sort of test was done to make this graph with confidence.
overdrive-chart.gif

I've been sailing along nicely, doing my 9-3-6 and 7-9-5 with no experimenting... I should try out one of these boosters in a side by side. It's been a little while since I've contributed anything here at RIU in the form of a test.

I've got a couple really consistent plant i work from clone right now.
My G13 plant would be a good one to try out... I just cut down 8 and put in 12 more this week.

A friend right now is finishing a GH vs DG... He's finding the yields to be the same but GH has a little bit improved smell.
I've suspected that DG has a small effect on smell. He says it is a slight difference, but it is there.

I was thinking about doing Dyna Gro vs House and Garden... Maybe at the end break the 1/2 DG and 1/2 HG down into 1/4's and try out overdrive... with claims like they make above, damn, ide like to try. If it worked I would be buying it for sure.

Looking at that graph, i suspect bullshit... the reason why? My plants (that do not get overdrive) definitely don't slow down production late week 4 and keep going down to week 6... they fucking explode..

I saw some Vigoro Rose food a couple of weeks ago and have been using it around my already established plants and they seem happy with it. Has anyone ever used it? It was actually quite cheap compared to a lot of the fertilizers you find at the Hydro and Organic stores. It has an NPK ratio of 12-6-10. I can't really find out much about it. Haven't found a company website; I'm beginning to think it may be a Home Depot brand...

Here are some of the ingredients:
Sodium borate decahydrate (borax)
Iron(III) oxide
Molybdic oxide
Zinc oxide
Cupric oxide
Manganese oxide
Potassium chloride
Magnesium sulfate
Ferrous sulfate
Zinc sulfate
Copper sulfate
Ammonium sulfate
Ammonium phosphate, dibasic

And for those that want to go THIS route, there is even a 15-30-15 NPK available.

Here is the MSDS

HeartlandHank,
I'm not sure if I would trust that graph, they can't even be bothered to label it correctly. Thanks for your thoughts on those additives.

Hey guys & gals,
Reporting back in from Hawaii here. So a little catch up info, I have been trying out organics, specifically Earth Juice and Down to Earth. I am sick of bubbling my teas and dealing with various deficiencies( I know this is due to my lack of experience and knowledge), I just wanted to try out something different from DG.
But, after doing two grows with organic products, nothing is simpler and easier than DG. Especially once you dial in the ratio of "grow" and "bloom" for veggin and flower cycle. I haven't fucked around with foliage pro, not in my area.
Looking forward to my knew grow, using dyna grow again; plus, I have acquired a good TDS meter and pH meter. I got this late in my last grow with DG; and not having those tools really sets me back. I am veggin under a 250 mH and then throwing them outside. I am using pro-mix ( 50%perlite/ 50% promix) with some extra dolomite.

My strains I am currently running are WWx BB, Grape God and a true Hawaiian diesel (strain is super old).

So, Homebrewer if u are around, I had a quick question. What pH do you like to keep your pro-mix at with your DG nutes? Or anyone else using pro mix specifically and DG. I used to keep my pH at 6.5-7.0, but i think that maybe to alkaline for my girls. I think that may have been the reason for some N lock outs and other problems from my preious grow. Cheers guys.
Indy.

You guys worry too much about pH. As long as you're in a decent range of say - 5.5 - 7.8, you're fine. Use Foliage Pro from start to finish. HB did in a comprehensive journal and found it out produced DG's Grow by 10%. IOW, get off the bloom teat! :) It's another industry marketing trick and forum paradigm.

UB is probably correct when it comes to pH but I'm a control freak so if I can control the pH of my input, then I will. I shoot for mid-to-low 6's for pH in promix. I don't actually pH anything, I just know the amounts of protekt and grow/foliage pro to use that puts me in the pH range I like.

In your case, you could probably drop the bloom altogether and see better results with just grow (ie. no more 'N lockout') but do whatever works best for you.

Thanks UB, HB and Chuck. I am in the same boat as HB; I am a control freak and like to test my pH. Though, once I get my own personal grow journals locked in with my ppms/pHs; I am sure pHing will be a thing of the past. I just did so much mixing of various products in the past(i.e. using molasses or PK boosters), which added nothin that DG already had, plus I think all those extra additives just made the ppm to high.
So I am just gonna K.IS.S.; take accurate measurements and go off what my girls tell me.

HB- I am gonna read up on your foliage pro journal, my hydro shop or other local gardening stores do not have it, would you say a quart (like all DG products) will go a long way? Wondering if I should just buy a quart off of the internet. Mahalo and aloha.

the journal he did is at a invite only site
True. It's at Riddlem3.com. Just the mention of the site in a PM got my PM privileges taken away by Potroast plus I have no clue who it is that hits me with Rep. Paranoid, or what?

RIU has this Obama style, NSA computer software program that keys in on certain keywords. Big brodder is watchin' ya.

Depends on how many plants you've got and how often you feed. I'm cheap so I buy by the gallon.

I'd start with a quart, or a box, of anything. Run it up the flagpole and see how it flies before investing in a large amount.

Hey guys, quick DG question. Do you guys use any sort of Cal-Mag supplement, along with the Mag-Pro? I have been reading up on some other posts and some people use a cal/mag supplement with their DG line-up. The issue I am having is a sign of redness in the leave's stem or stoma ( Idk what the proper term is). Anyways, the redness is on multiple leaves, though there are no signs of necrosis or other spots.
So I am currently using promix bx and coarse perlite(50.50 ratio). The soil has extra dolomite in it, that I put in myself @ 1tbsp per gallon, 3 gallon pots=3tbsp. Ferting with dyna grow, protek, mag-pro, bloom(now and then, so I don't overdose on N). My ferts are just now hitting 650-750 ppm on a .5 scale.
I would post a pic, but their is currently a tropical storm at my back door... named "Flossie" of all things.

If you have dolomite, you don't need any more Ca or Mg.

Yeah, surf's up. How did you guys fare? Mud slides or what?

Aloha...

Shoootssss.... I have a grape god, and last grow, I think I used to much dolomite. Thus, I am now a little mstore light on the tbsp per gallon. al

Other than that, the hurricane went to a tropical depression once it hit my island. We were the first island to get hit (I am on the island of Hawaii), but our gusts got almost 40+ mph, and very little rain. I grew up in hurricanes living in the south (georgia and north carolina), so this one was laughable. I guess everyone went and panic-shopped for water and supplies at all our local stores; which just made me laugh. Its always good to be prepared, but this thing was a hurricane fart, in comparison to a real hurricane. The surf was pretty damn big or us, imo it was a little to hazardous to surf in. Consistent sets were like in a 14 second span and all of the waves in the set span were 14+, so if you caught a wave, another bomb was almost on top of you.

Been up that way, stayed at the Kohala coast many a time. Windy as hell normally at North Kohala. I have some stunning pix at the Pololu Valley lookout. I saw the track, you guys got the wimpy lower quadrant. Yep, people get weird, panicky and all. Only thing to stock up on is whiskey. :)

Rode some of the toughest. Anemometer blew off at 165 mph with hurricane Celia. Devastated the area needless to say. Place torn up, no electricity for 3 weeks, etc.

Been to Paia but never when the surf was up at Jaws.

IMO, those feeding levels aren't helping anything either. If it were my garden, I'd cut that dose in half and tweak from there but your mileage may vary.
