I'm wondering if I really need to use a form of Cal-Mag. Dyna-Gro Grow is supposed to be complete AND I'm using tap water. I've been foliar feeding with a Blossom End Rot spray which contains Calcium, but use much less than the recommended amount and don't use it frequently. Thoughts?

one of the greater benefits of silicon is it can balance elemental nutrients in tissue because its suppressive effects on Al,Mn an Na and because it acts to mediate the uptake of P,Mg ,K,Fe as well as the Minors Cu and Zn. this is Scientfically Documented as well as the other benefits as you know already that silicon provides,
I am new to growing so have no advice for you, but I am using the DG lineup in hydro,because of UB and HB threads about DG and decided this might be the nutrient selection for me ,but I did have to still do my own research on the products and some botani 101 before I made my nutrient choice and grow attempt . I am finding DG very easy and simple to deal with as far as feeding the correct nutrients with the DG lineup .

Can someone tell me if its ok to mix Big Bud and Overdrive as well as Bud Canady with Dyna-Gro???? just wondering if it will be ok? I have been using Dyna Gro for over a year now it rocks but i have a bunch of A/N nutes kicking around so i was thinking i would use some of the stuff up if it mixes ok with Dyna?????

There shouldn't be a problem mixing them as they all use the same salts. To be safe, mix your nutes with water, pour some into a jar and see if there is any precipitation.
YOU must understand what the final NPK and micro values are which more than likely will be too high in K and too low in N. That's just how the A/N crap rolls.

So what was the verdict? Does Foliage Pro make bigger buds or yield more than the Grow?
I just completed a Foliage Pro grow and they looked as good as ever during the grow, and of course a little greener, but the yield was down. I wasn't organized enough to do a side by side comparison but it will be side by side next time to rule out any other envoirmental differences. The jury is still out on my verdict.

It blows my mind that I am the only person at my hydro store that buys the DG. Huge shelves of Canna, H&G, Cyco, GH... then 3-4 bottles of DG Grow, Bloom and Pro Tekt. I have to get them to order foliage pro for me. Very much under rated.

My DG Grow has crystals in the bottom and my Pro-Tekt has hundreds of specs of white shit floating in it.
Do I need new shit, or is this normal/inconsequential?
Also, just throwing this out there in case anyone else is using it... for me it seems sodium thiosulphate (popular aquarium tap water conditioner which neutralizes chloramine and turns it into ammonia) + pro-tekt = cloudy reaction.

They look great either way to me. nice job HB. He grew in promix or something along those lines? Were these 2 out of others that grew under 600 watts? I have no beef whatsoever with Dyna in anything but inert grows IMO. In hydro, when its on the cool side, is where I have issues with it. I tend to need more N in those situations so I add more Cal/Mag which is all good anyways when one grows with RO water. But a good environment is what it's all about too. Again HB, Kudos.

I can't stress this enough though... be careful with the Pro-tekt; it can damage leaves. I recommend for people to use 1/4 tsp MAX in a foliar spray. I should have taken photos of the crispy and bright yellow leaves my plants developed after spraying with a solution that was too strong.
Other than that, I've used 1/4 tsp in a gallon of water every time I've watered (root drench) with no ill effect. My plants are pretty stout, not saying it is the Pro-tekt, but incase it is... if you are planning on doing some LST to your plants, do so BEFORE you begin feeding Pro-Tekt. The new growth is no problem, but if you try to train older plants... it's much harder.
I do recommend Pro-Tekt though, especially if you are in a high heat environment as it helps with heat stress particularly if used in conjunction with Calcium.
Although deemed a non-essential nutrient for the majority of plants, the benefits of silicon include increasing pest and pathogen resistance, drought and heavy metal tolerance, and the quality and yield of agricultural crops. Si also alleviates salt-stress and increases antioxidant activity in leaves.
Silicon is the second most abundant element in soils, the mineral substrate for most of the world's plant life. The soil water, or the "soil solution," contains silicon, mainly as silicic acid, H4SiO4, at 0.1-0.6 mM--concentrations on the order of those of potassium, calcium, and other major plant nutrients, and well in excess of those of phosphate.
Silicon is readily absorbed so that terrestrial plants contain it in appreciable concentrations, ranging from a fraction of 1% of the dry matter to several percent, and in some plants to 10% or even higher. In spite of this prominence of silicon as a mineral constituent of plants, it is not counted among the elements defined as "essential," or nutrients, for any terrestrial higher plants except members of the Equisitaceae. For that reason it is not included in the formulation of any of the commonly used nutrient solutions. The plant physiologist's solution-cultured plants are thus anomalous, containing only what silicon is derived as a contaminant of their environment. Ample evidence is presented that silicon, when readily available to plants, plays a large role in their growth, mineral nutrition, mechanical strength, and resistance to fungal diseases, herbivory, and adverse chemical conditions of the medium. Plants grown in conventional nutrient solutions are thus to an extent experimental artifacts. Omission of silicon from solution cultures may lead to distorted results in experiments on inorganic plant nutrition, growth and development, and responses to environmental stress.

This is normal, well... I don't know if the stuff floating around in it is normal. Was it there when you purchased it or have you possibly contaminated one with the other? I have a feeling this might be what happened. You can avoid this by rinsing out your cups and droppers or whatever you use to mix the Pro-Tekt. Any droppers that go into a product should be washed before being dipped into another product. I don't think the floaties should be much concern, so don't fret.
ALWAYS mix Pro-Tekt into pure water (no other nutes or chemicals) first! Tap water is fine. That comes straight from Dyna-Gro. It's called Salt Precipitation, I believe. Anyway, just mix the Pro-tekt into water and mix well before adding any other nutrients and that should solve your cloudy problem.

I don't think it's cross contamination since I just pour nutes in a shot glass and not back into the bottle. I don't remember the pro-tekt having shit in it when I bought it. Pretty sure the Grow did, but it's hard to see in the bottom of that bottle. I can see crystals floating around when I shake the bottle. I've pretty much decided to either get new protekt or just stop using it. The Grow nutes seem to be fine despite the crystals. If it was my bloom nutes I'd toss it.
