Everybody has the right to grow marijuana (& your opinions)

I believe that every body in the United States of America as well as the rest of the world has the inherent right to grow whatever plant they choose to.
I also believe the government should have no say in small scale grow operations and only be involved with large scale farming and the selling aspect of things.
What do you guys think?

Legalization is a corporate and political greed platform, which they have fucked up royally (companies suing each other, several at risk of public market delisting, numerous documented illegalities etc). Full and unrestricted decriminalization is the only thing I support.

If Bernie Sanders gets elected, Marijuana will be legal nationwide. I would not doubt if Trump would pull a fast one and legalize it right before the election lol!

I am in California, and while I believe that legalization has turned to corporate greed just like everything else, I don't see it becoming legal any other way. That is in fact one of only 2 reasons Bernie Sanders would legalize it. 1 for the money, 2 for the votes

Even in the world of corporate greed, it is very easy to grow enough for personal use. If you are trying to make money off of it in any way, I see you as part of the problem. I also believe you have the right to your opinion and I respect that right, even when your opinion is wrong lol

It’s a really good question. Other countries that have inherited the UK system like Canada and Jamaica seem to have used the right to grow medicine as a path forward. In Canada it has held up in court.

When you look at where the US constitution comes from and what your founding fathers were really trying to protect (the rights they enjoyed under the British system) then it becomes quite obvious.

Yes you do have the right to grow medicinal plants. Please tar and feather any politician that thinks otherwise!

But you also have to consider the environmental implications mass growing has if its completely unregulated
Why? Third world countries grow lots of cannabis without chemicals. Whole valleys full. The plant actually pulls toxins out of the soil. Packed densely in fields it will choke out weeds. It is actually known for making soil better over time.

The only way it could possibly be a hazard to the environment is if greedy people squirt a bunch of toxic shit on it.

Sanders has no chance in a general election, though. He panders to the kids. He wants teachers to get raises while making college free. This is impossible, also the Dems lose the House if a socialist wins the Presidency......He's fake news, like Trump. If the Dems are dumb enough to elect Sanders prepare for a Trump re election with a GOP majority in both the House and Senate. Scary times.

That's actually happening in areas around the world as landraces that have traditionally been grown without the need for heavy fertilization are being replaced by higher potency hybrids. We are watching strains of cannabis that have been grown for hundreds of years being lost as the genetics are contaminated by the introduction of higher producing hybrids. It's too bad. Todays cookie cutter hybrids lack the character that landrace strains offer.

"The high yields of imported hybrid cannabis plants come at a cost however.

The strains require heavy fertilization, which can damage the soil. And their insatiable thirst threatens the region’s water supplies, according to the OFDT."

"And, while Hicham may have switched to growing Critical, he still only smokes Beldiya."

"The modern varieties," he says, "are mediocre." I agree.

And sunflowers are 30-60% better at soil rejuvenation. Require no chemical inputs and require less water. While providing the same processed products with the bonus of having an edible end product. Why aren't they growing that? They are supplying your favorite CBD suppliers. Has nothing to do with environmental impacts.

They my very well switch to a crop like sunflowers in the future since there is a glut of hemp and many farmers that switched to growing CBD cannabis can't find buyers for their crops.

"About 65% of U.S. hemp farmers lack a buyer for their crop this season, leaving them few alternatives, according to a July survey by Whitney Economics. Hemp has less infrastructure than other crops, so farmers cannot rely on selling their crop to a local grain elevator. "

They massive amount of "legalization" has dramatically increased US stock. But multi billion dollar investment groups have been importing through Cali and Colo to increase their profits. Offshoring. But it is illegal for me to mail a seed.

Did I mention I can't stand people trying to make money off of this? If electricity wasn't so damn expensive I would grow a lot more and give it away for free

At the same time if they walked away from those cookie cutter candy strains in a few generations nature would have them all sorted out. There was likely some consultant that advised them they needed the new strains, and then the chemicals came out when all the bugs showed up. Then the microbes died and fertilizer was required.

Sad I agree. But certainly not limited to cannabis. I do live on farmland.

Just curious now that you guys are talking about the piles of hemp everybody is sitting on. I thought it was pretty cool that is was completely deregulated and the free market that formed of it. I wish Canada would follow suit but we have a paperwork requirement and government inspectors, and I chat with hemp growers enough to be aware of some of the bullshit they have endured under our government permission slip program. Less (no) permission is required to grow weed ffs. Too much hassle yet. I really want to grow a couple acres as I eat the seed. My question is; can you guys export your hemp?

edit: btw I agree 100% about the potency of alot of “new weed”. I’m just tickled that I can grow nice clean trees in the yard, have always preferred outdoor.

I don't know anything about importing or exporting hemp between Canada and the United States.
