My rifle IS the battery.Almost.. you're forgetting "battery"
Assault weapon is a fake term, as there is no firearms definition given to it. What happens, is certain cosmetic, or safety features get added for foolishness sake. What you're left with, is a poorly defined, arbitrary cover-all law that winds up taking out weapons based on looks. The 10-22 looks like a regular old deer rifle, and shoots the tiny .22. You can get a stock kit for the thing, and turn it into an assault rifle, in about 10 minutes, and a basic set of tools. Nothing about the gun would change, but its clothes.Yea assault weapon started as a political term to showcase advance military weaponry around wwii. More of a way to instill fear in enemies. Now it has evolved to being defined in law to create classes of weaponry. It kinda serves a purpose to be able to speak about a specific type of weapon. Kind of like if you wanted to talk about baboons you wouldn't use the term prime-apes because people would think about more than just baboons.
Put a hand guard on a barrel to keep people from getting burnt? assault rifle!. Put a pistol grip on to make the rifle easier to hold, and easier on the wrist bones? Nope. assault rifle!. Muzzle brake to keep the recoil down and increase accuracy, thereby increasing safety? no, sorry, assault rifle again!. Carrying handle... nuh uh, assault rifle. Collapsable stock to make the rifle more comfortable for each family member? Nah, assault rifle.
Stupid pointless bullshit. Same with mag bans. Sure, pass that, and now I have some dude with a 100 round beta mag, and In stuck here with a couple 10's. Great, he decided to bring 2 of his homeboys, and a pit bull, except fuuuck! The gun is in the "safe" in the car, this is a gun free zone!
