Today my husband and I (yes, that's right, in case you weren't paying attention, I'm a girl) harvested the first two plants to come "of age", Millie and Maime. Millie was the smallest plant as a little 'un; the runt of the litter. She did give it her all though. These two were the only survivors of the Earthbox experiment. I think next year it's tomatos in the Earthbox.
Thank you, Millie and Maimie.
Following fdd's instruction, cut them down into manageable sizes
By the second plant, I was tossing useable trim into the stove pot and the fluffy bits into a bowl. I figure we'll save the fluffy bits to grind for EZ joint making.
This is partway through manicuring the 2nd plant. Our living room smelled awesome! By now our fingers were sticky and scissors were gaining dark resin blobs, which I gathered together and stored.
Here's the fluffy bits.
I did find a few seeds in these, but that's ok (like 6). I figure if it's good, we're all set to try this again next year. Here they are hung in an undisclosed dark location.
Etta
Admittedly, Etta looks a bit sickly, but she's been through ALOT. Look back in my journal and give her some credit. She's the one I can really see getting clumpy and thick in between the nodes.
I think she's still 2 weeks away from harvest - at least.
This is Trixie. She's the one that I've posted about whose leaves are yellowing. The buds look good, so I've been advised that this is natural - Trixie's just getting tired. I think she's about a week away from harvest.
One of Trixie's trix - these aren't for kids.
Not picured is Bessie, who I didn't get a photo of somehow...(could be because I was high while taking photos?). Anyway, she looks like Trixie but all green. She's getting very close - also probably a week from harvest.
Please feel free to comment - I've learned so much but want to keep learning, so speak up if you want to!
