First indoor grow, need some light on a few questions.

Ok. I would try to keep your humidity upwards of 80% or around there for seedlings. Just a thought.

Alright, I was aiming for the high 60's or perhaps 70's but i'm guessing it should be lowered from 80 to about 60 when they've sprouted leaves - right?

Also is there a propper way to water rockwool, manually? Dipping it in water? Watering it from above (carefully of course)?

Had to go back a re-read you 1st post. I misunderstood i thought they already had roots and a seedling already. You still will need higher humidity for them to germinate and come up. DO NOT LET YOUR ROCKWOOL DRY OUT!!! They will surely not become seedlings in that case.

I also do not use Rockwool to germinate my seeds because i do not like it. Makes things more stressful for me. I do have it around with my rooting gel for clones though.

I really wouldn't worry too much about the humidity until you have seedlings. Just make sure you keep your Rockwool moist.

Alright but with the dome completely closed my RH is about 80-90% so that should help keep the rockwool moist as well.

And yeah, I know that most people don't like start with rockwool, I couldn't get a hold of anything else where I live so if these succeed then at least i've made it through a more difficult trial :P

Hello one and all! :)

I've just started my first grow, I have 3 seeds that have been germinated and put into small cubes of rockwool (drained in 5.5 Ph water for about 1.5 hours before the seeds got planted).

Up untill that stage all is great but here is where I can't find ANY information. How should I proceed now?

I've got a grow tent that has a 400W MH bulb atm (at max height) and i've got the cubes of rockwool sitting in 3 seperate domes and the bottom. My RH is around 40-80% (I need to get some stable humidity, I know) and temperature is ranging from 24C to about 29C which is a lot, I know and im not sure what is causing the spike in temperature.

The seeds have been in rockwool for about 10 hours now and we'll, I can't really check on how they're doing.

But my question is: Should they be kept under a light? I'm running my MH at 12/12 which I'm going to run untill harvest (it's an autoflowering strain).

Also, do you think the seeds have taken some damage due to the high temperature?

Any tips you can give me will be greatly appreciated :)
lights should be 18/6... 12/12 for flower...

They are auto flowering so from my understanding, putting them från 18/6 to 12/12 won't change anything, they will flower after a few weeks regardless because of their genetics :) but i've changed it to 18/6, if anything, I might get a few g more due to the longer light period :)

Thank you, will probably start a diary threat once they sprout.

But right now im at about 40 hours since I started germinating them, how long (ish) until they should form their first leaves do you think?
2-7 days. I use a heat mat under mine. Helps keeps the roots warm and seems to help speed up the process a bit.

i keep my lights on 24/7 when they are germinating/sprouting just to keep the temps in my seedling tent constant. if i turned lights off, it would dip into the 60's F.

i sprout my seeds in rapid rooters in a small aero unit. i keep a piece of cardboard over top to keep them in the dark until they break the surface. then cardboard comes off.

so yours had a tap root and then you put them in rockwool, correct? could be you damaged the tap root when you transferred. i just put my seeds in rapid rooters where they sprout, grow for awhile until they get decent roots, then the whole rapid rooter gets transferred to net pot.

Oh, you keep them in the dark untill they've sprouted? Interesting.

Yes, all of them had taproots. I doubt I damaged the root when putting them into the rockwool, i've never been so careful with anything in my life :P but yes, it's a possibility but i used a pair of tweezers and didn't touch the root itself.

One of the seeds is now over 24 hours in the rockwool so tomorrow and forwards will be interesting to see if it sprouts.

yep, mine are in the dark until they break surface. like you said, if no leaves, no photosynthesis going on.

this may seem obvious: you did put the taproot pointing down, correct?

True, by some logic I seem to think that the seed would be more attracted to the light but perhaps that's not the case.

Yep! All of them, didn't push them down to far either.

On a side note, I can't seem to get a grip on my grow tent. For over one hour it was at around 26-27C and when i checked now, it was at 29C....just seems to hot for my taste or just on the edge.

how are you cooling it? i'm too lazy to go back to page 1. lol.

Haha, the active ventilation is setup like this: Carbon filter - duct - cooltube (400W MH/HPS) - duct and then exhaust out.

Passive ventilation is just at the bottom, a screen which is have open when the light is on. I'm guessing since the fan is pulling the air, it creates a negative pressure which should, by itself "suck" air in trough the passive vent - am I totally wrong?

I can't really open a window either, it's far to cold outside still.

6 inch fan/ ducting?

what fan? what CFM?

Errr, not sure the diameter of the fine tbh, it's called TT125UN.

Note sure about the cfm, but rated at 280m3/h at full rpm, im usually running it about 50% but i've calculated that even at 20% air transfer loss, I should still be moving the totalt m3 of my tent per minute.
